I am so glad someone said that. Because...well, come on! They went forty-five years because they automatically assumed people could tell fact from fiction. And not all of us are so dissatisfied that we wish for a fictional character to whisk us away in a time machine forever.

143. Admittedly I never finished The Witching Hour (if memory serves me right and that's the book that relates the history of the Mayfair family? Is that even the correct name?). I felt awfully hypocritical because I adore big family trees like that as well as watching them unfold over years and years, and yet I could not bring myself to finish that monster. I did finish the others in the series, though, and enjoyed them, so maybe it's time to try again.

I loved The Witching Hour... not as much as others, but I loved it nonetheless. But I love the HUEG family tree that the Mayfairs have and I feel almost bad saying this, but I LOVED Lasher... despite the fact that he went about raping other Mayfairs. >.>

I loved the Dark Knight. Really, I did. And the Joker, obviously...

But do we really need to hear every week how people want to fuck him? We get it. Everyone wants to fuck the Joker, including the massive influx of Harley Quinn lovers who only like her because they want to BE her so said Joker sex can occur.

122. I always got the impression that Percy was just as much to blame for the estrangement as the rest of the family. I wouldn't say they disowned him, considering how overjoyed Molly was to see him at the Burrow in HBP, and I definitely wouldn't say that all he did was 'stand by the government', considering that the Ministry's handling of the issue was a big factor in Voldemort regaining all that power.

Obviously he was just trying to do what he thought was right, but I don't think you can really blame his family for being pissed that he sided with his boss rather than them, and also started writing his little brother letters that basically said "Your best friend is crazy. Dump him and get on the path to success."
(Also: Percy...wasn't out of school in CoS. He was in sixth year.)

I don't know, overall they seem pretty normal for a seven-child family with below average means. There's bound to be some friction in any family, and the problems they have, like Ron's feeling inferior to his brothers, don't seem too out of the ordinary to me.

Basically, perfect loving family? No. Legitimate complaints about Molly and Arthur's parenting? Yes. Dysfunctional? No.

122: A-fricken'-men. The relationship between Percy and the Twins is damaged and damaging, and no one in that family seems to see it except maybe Charlie. And Arthur doesn't seem to realize how close the Twins are to slipping over the line from class clowns to bullies. They're a loving family, but a deeply flawed one.

135: I haven't read the books and probably never will (conventional vampires bore me to tears), and thus I have no opinion on them at all, but it seems a bit extreme to compare "OMFG this book sux cuz writing is bad!" to "These SaTAnic books will SENd your CHILD sta-raight into the fires of HELL!" One is a poorly written critical opinion; the other is an actual attempt at censorship.

I consider the twins bullies. The pranks they play on Slytherin students are cruel in a lot of cases. They're lighthearted when it comes to people they know, but they did push a Slytherin student into a vanishion cupboard and he was missing for a week before he turned up. They apparently had absolutely no conscience to tell them that without food or water, that boy could be in serious danger. I guess not wanting to get in trouble outweighed the importance of his safety. And him vanishing in a time of war, when entire families are disappearing and being murdered. I wonder what Dumbledore told the student's parents?

Regardless, it seems like bullying to me. Harry just doesn't recognize bullying when it's happening to people he dislikes (except in cases like the Snape's Worst Memory, which I think was entirely undeniable as bullying)

You do, however, realise that you first have to be a highly competent translator (or, well, at least have the skills) in order to work in localisation?

Personal anectode time:

I localise, among others, video games. I translate gazillions of vastly varied products, from books through documents to said video games.

Guess what? I've never played a video game in my life and don't intend to. I've never lived anywhere where the language I translate into is spoken for any longer than two months at a time.

All it takes is wanting to be really good at what you do.
