Donna was confused. When the woman standing in front of her had knocked on the front door, Donna had assumed she was selling insurance or was from a very organised looking cult. She wore a suit and had very... professional looking hair. Not really the sort of person who just dropped by for tea at their house, Donna had mused. And what was even stranger was her Grandad’s reaction to her, he had bustled her away into the kitchen without a word and closed the door firmly on his granddaughter. Twenty minutes later, the girl had emerged, her eyes red rimmed but determined. Donna heard the back door slam as Wilf left the house, leaving her alone with this stranger.
Donna felt uneasy. The woman smiled and shook Donna’s hand as she introduced herself as a doctor, and at the cool touch of her hand, thousands of memories flashed through Donna’s mind. She closed her eyes momentarily and swayed a little.
“What did you say your name was?”
The girl twisted the ring on her wedding finger round and round, avoiding Donna’s gaze.
“Well?”
She slid it off, placed it on the mantelpiece and turned to face Donna.
“Martha. Martha Jones.”
The same memories tore through Donna’s mind again and again, a bright white light blinding her thoughts.
“What? You… who… I know you from somewhere! Where?!
You... you tell me now or I’ll… I’ll… scream for help.”
Martha’s eyes widened as she put her finger to her lip,
“Shhh, Donna! That’s the last thing we need!”
Donna backed onto the sofa and stared blankly ahead.
“What are you doing here? What year is it? What's going on? Where's my grandad? And... who is the Doctor?”
Martha slid down beside her and put her arm around Donna's shaking shoulders,
“I told you” she said simply, “I am the Doctor.”
Donna’s tearstained face looked at her earnestly and Martha smiled, stroking a few tears away from her eyes.
“Don’t worry Donna,” she whispered in her ear as her hand slid across Donna’s stomach and down into her jeans, “I’ll help you remember.”

"These ones okay?" Mimi asks, and shifts her weight from foot to foot, showing off the heels. The strap over her feet is clear, and the heels are a plastic-y pink, with small star-shaped charms hanging on the outer sides.

Joe just stares, and pointedly says nothing while shrugging.

"I'm leaving in a week, shouldn't you be enjoying our time together?" She asks, huffing, and kicking off the shoes.

"Couldn't we do something that's fun for both of us?" Mimi raises the show in her hand, as if to throw it, and Joe raises his hands defensively. "Uh, but this is great too, really! I just don't know much about shows, that's all!"

Accepting this, Mimi sets down the shoes, and picks up another pair. Sneakers, with small hearts patterned like graffiti across the sides, and shoe-laces that look like many small hearts sewn together. She frowns. "Well I know what's popular here, but if I'm going to be popular when I move to America, I'm going to buy clothes that will help me fit in there."

Joe sighs, and leans back in the store's couch. "Just buy what you like, it shouldn't matter what's popular here or there."

From the sudden movement, at first Joe thinks she's thrown a shoe at him, and closes his eyes tightly. When he goes to move his arms up for a shield, he realizes that the girl is hugging him. She detaches herself, and gives him a peck on the cheek.

"Good advice!" She tells him, and returns to the rows of shows.

Joe sighs, and relaxes once more. He watches her, and frowns, and pretends he isn't blushing. It's still boring, but he supposes he would rather spend this time with her than not.
