I'm in the same boat, pretty much. After two encounters with a toxic narcissist in my most recent fandom, I withdrew from the fandom space they were active on... and since then can't get invested in anything new.

With some regularity I see "Natasha Stark" in the AO3 (Marvel) tags - 239 works at the time of writing, and I still haven't figured if it's:

A) Some kind of mutant combo of Natasha Romanoff and Tony Stark
B) Female!Tony Stark who for some odd reason is called Natasha
C) Natasha Romanoff adopted by/married into the Stark family
D) Other

I'm not even sure if the people using the tag use it the same way.

This is why I hate it when people say "Just write some yourself!" as advice to people looking for hard to find fic. As if writing exactly what you want is that easy - they'd never dream of telling people to make their own shoes or whatever but writing? Apparently anyone can do that and come up with the perfect fic they were craving, just like that!

Honestly, I feel like even the most non-delusional of slash shippers occasionally have ships where they think, "I know the writers aren't going to go there, but...maybe this time they will?"

The point where it gets self-deluding, IMO, is when a person goes from "It could happen and I'd love if it did," to "I believe it will happen, and I will ignore and/or deny and/or misconstrue anything that indicates otherwise."

Ughhh, still mad about Charlotte getting inflicted with Babies Ever After.

She didn't want them! She took all medical precautions against having them! After finding out she was pregnant, she very clearly asked for an abortion-with-plausible-deniability! But noooo. And because the writers know they couldn't pull off this much plot-contrivance more than once, they went ahead and gave her triplets.

All this, after giving her a "my husband and I just found out he has a ten-year-old kid with a past partner" storyline. (Which was actually not badly handled, either.) Why wasn't that enough? Why pile her with unwanted infants? Come on, people.

I am that op. Those are just two random characters. There are a lot of compilations on pornhub. There is one really good wow one with these elves that I love. I also really enjoy the monster ones but I go a bit more extreme that elves and orcs.
