When medical shows don't do proper research. And it leads to their characters saying dumbass shit like, "Give me 10mg of benzodiazepine!" which is a class of drugs, not an actual drug.

Like, I can maybe sort of overlook this in a non-medical show/movie, but on things like ER, House, etc, just... DO YOUR RESEARCH OKAY.

It bothers me when 2D media has the kids look like mom-but-a-boy and dad-but-a-girl. Or even worse is when the parents look like their collective family tree is one generation away from hemophilia. I get that it's shorthand, but please stretch your character designs some. There is plenty of real world inspiration to take from, please use it.

This show is actually really good, but um, okay.

Haha I was about to say he's excellent in the Umbrella Academy, but yeah, I guess it doesn't really help your case.

I love his Neil (Neal?) Breen review.

+1 Yes. Assuming I was willing to make the effort in the first place, yes

Yeah you need an external floppy drive/reader. Or you might be able to mail them to a service.

I agree. Also, when all the female characters look exactly the same. It is possible to animate a variety of body types. If they can do it for males, they can do it for females.

This. There is sexism involved in how the story was written. But in the story, as written, the Queen of the Night is terrible. She is a villain.

Just in general when characterization is changed so a character can be shoved into specific stereotypes/roles/etc. I prefer it when the characters are recognizably the one I'm actually here to read about.

THIS. It's particularly irritating when it's a character with a history, or someone with a lot of character development that gets reversed for other reason than the writer going "lol well that won't work with MY plot."

I'm watching his review of The Host right now and, wow, how did this film get made

(Anonymous) 2019-02-25 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
What is it about the show's premise that you don't have an interest in? I'm just curious because it seems like such a blend of genres and 'types' to me, especially that it's very rooted in the family's dysfunctionality and the apocalypse is sort of a secondary/tertiary plot.

(Anonymous) 2019-02-25 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry that you feel isolated, OP, but I have to admit that your description made me giggle.

STOP TAGGING YOUR READER FIC AS 'YOU' FIC. I don't want to wade through your 20 Castiel/You fic drabbles and I can't blacklist the tag because 'you' is a normal word.

We have the same birthday (6/6/1986) and when I found out I lost my shit and immediately became weirdly obsessed with him, lol.

Re: How is your next week looking?

[personal profile] syncing_feeling 2019-02-25 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
We're visiting my partner's dad tomorrow, which is a 4+ hour journey, my partner's driving skills are questionable and he's never driven on a motorway before. I'm nervous for a number of reasons.

I just realized the Academy Awards are tonight

(Anonymous) 2019-02-25 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
I am not going to watch them but I can't wait to read about how much of a shitshow they are.

Re: Question thread

(Anonymous) 2019-02-25 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Hm, only $18 on amazon. Do I want to know what's on them that badly, lol?

Re: Would you murder someone if you could get away with it?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-25 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. Even when I was in desperate straits where three hots and a cot sounded pretty damned good, I was only trying to think of crimes with life sentences I could commit without killing anyone.

I'm also pathetic enough to prefer swatting drain flies because I hate seeing them dying slowly of bug spray. So.. yeah. No murder for me, even if I'd get away scot-free, guaranteed.

Wait, is it Oscars or Academy Awards? Does it have two names? ?? ???

Re: Good names for pets

Buck, Max, Olive, Beebo, Teeka, Mitzi

Re: I just realized the Academy Awards are tonight

The Academy Awards is the ceremony, the Oscar is the nickname for the little gold man you get. But people use them interchangeably.
