More to the point, it's a show where people who can't bake aren't given nearly enough time to recreate professional recipes, even if they did know how to bake, and fail spectacularly on every level.

It is GLORIOUS. No one takes it seriously, there's no animosity between contestants, and no one expects to even come close to recreating the professional cake.

I was in an absolutely foul mood the other day. The third season of Nailed It dropped on Netflix, I watched almost all of it before bed, and it cheered me right the fuck up. 10/10 would recommend.

Have...

Have you met people?

People are shitty at following directions. People are shitty at managing time. People are shitty at doing things they haven't done before, like using a stand mixer or a blast chiller.

I miss his connection with the squad; I feel like the sequel kinda ruined that when they made him be the one who was cool with letting them die a fiery volcano death and Claire be the activist who wants to save the dinos :,(

Screenplay introduces them as "Mary Lou's three adopted children, adults Credence and Chastity, and Modesty (an eight-year-old girl)" on pages 13 & 14. It's also a plot point that Credence isn't a child but is miraculously the Obscurial who has somehow managed to survive to adulthood because of his immense power

+ ten bajillion

I've had people tell me I need to cook with a new ingredient, kitchen device, or recipe -- aaaand come up with something edible in an hour.

So sorry, not sorry -- if the resulting food sucks, it's not my fault, it's yours. I either do my research, or I cook out of my usual culinary repertoire. I can't just pretend everything is going to magically come together in a freaking hour because some naive bozo said it should.

SA

...also, I can't stand it when people automatically assume that one brand or type of any given food is an exact substitute for the next brand or type of food.

For example: canned pasta is not a substitute for fresh, frozen, or dried pasta. They all have different cooking times, and are all suited to different recipes. Dried and frozen pasta has to be boiled, fresh is good for skillet or casserole meals, and canned pasta is good for camping and emergencies.

This whole thread is making me feel like I'm somehow doing Trek fandom wrong? I accept the goofy stuff, I don't get mad at it; I acknowledge it's silly as all heck, but I don't treat it as not having happened either. :P

Maybe it's because I'm mostly attached to the novel microfandom within the Trek fandom, and some of the neatest stuff (Forgotten History out of Miri and the Vedala, the extended strife between Klingon HemQuch and QuchHa' out of the retrovirus, the A Time To... series and Titan out of Nemesis, basically the entire Enterprise post-series book line out of that awful finale) came out of the goofy stuff.

(And what's the big deal about Sybok? He's just a v'tosh ka'tur from before there was a name for that. :P)

Trek canon itself tends to do the ignoring for you with some stuff, which makes it easy as a fan to ignore those things. As far as I know, Trek TV/movie canon (the only Trek canon that's canon) has *never* referenced Sybil since, at least not in any way that matters. I can see how the MCU might make that harder by continuing to make certain things relevant. We already know the next Spiderman movie will reference Tony being dead. Endgame isn't going to be a Final Frontier situation. Sorry folks.

Bisexuality. It fucking exists. Just because he has the hots for a woman now doesn't fucking negate the obvious crush he had.

Also, Newt's always been straight, that's how Luna married one of his descendants.

I mean, you're not wrong OP.

When I heard that Grumpy Cat died, I cried. I don't think I've cried over a celebrity death yet.
