Started out pretty good but now I’m trying to quash an irrational anxiety attack over a spoiler for a tv show.

Went around to a couple yard sales. Bought this ugly fellow for $25. Then got all this yarn (and shelf) for $17. No clue what I am going to do with it.

As expected, the Gay Pride was too crowded and too loud for my taste, and on top of that, the weather was also way too hot. Should have stayed home as planned.
(Well I guess it's a good thing that the Pride is so popular but... I just can't do with crowds personally.)

There's a used car lot I go to nearly every Saturday to shoot the shit with a bunch of old men who were friends with my dad before he died, and one of them has the sweetest, most enormous dogs that I've known since they could fit in my jacket - one's a german shepard/wolf mix, and one's a lab/canary dog. The owner usually takes them along for his construction-inspection jobs, because they're his babies, so I don't get to see them very often. But, today the lab/canary dog was there! I got to hug and love on him and get my feet sat on! :D And then I went home and took a shower because he is a STANKY BOY.

I went the Jewish Museum in Munich. Then I walked through a cemetery. So sort of a somber day but I'd say it was everything I wanted.

Went to the gym, did some grocery shopping, had a cheeseburger, am now bingeing Good Omens and pleased that somehow Aziraphale and Crowley are even more coupley than in the book.

Anxious and weird. My dad texted me late last night to say the police have contacted him and want to speak to him regarding an "incident" involving my mother. She ran off 14 years ago. My head's been a mess and I have so many questions and I've waited for years for some kind of news, anything, and now I think it's coming and I don't know if I can handle it.

It was okay. The business outside the house took longer than expected but was worth it. The business inside the house was largely not done because I ended up messing around online, as you do.

Movie Club Discussion!

Today we are discussing Logan Lucky!

Here are some questions to start us off.

1. What was your initial reaction when the movie started? How did that change by the end of the movie?

2. Who was your favorite character in the movie? Your least favorite character? Why?

3. What was your favorite scenes? Your least favorite? Why?

4. What did you think of the soundtrack and/or score?

1. I had no expectations for the movie so I no idea of what I was getting into. The last 15 minutes was a masterpiece.

2. My favorite characters were all the Logan siblings. They were just great. Clyde being so apathetic through the whole thing was great.

Max Chilbain was by far my least favorite character. Mostly because I am not a fan of Seth MacFarlane. But I didn't like his accent and attitude. Not as much, but I also didn't like Hillary Swank's character because the way she spoke was weird.

3. I really enjoyed the scene when Clyde and Joe escaped, it was really clever. I loved the scene when the inmates were mad about the Game of Thrones books not being published. Cracked me the fuck up. I also liked when Joe was teaching Clyde and Jimmy science. I admit I teared up when his daughter started singing Take Me Home, Country Roads. ;_;

The whole ending montage where you discover what the Logan brothers had done was AWESOME. I am so happy they got one over on everyone.

I didn't like the first bar scene because Max Chilbain was such an asshole. The scene at the end where Jimmy was explaining to Clyde how he knew the heat was off was hard to understand. That was the only time I had to put on subtitles.

4. The score was okay. It wasn't super remarkable to me. I did like the soundtrack though.

5. I thought the editing and such were all sufficient. Nothing special though.

I am a bit confused by the existence of the race car subplot with Sebastian Stan and Seth MacFarlane. I thought maybe they would show Sebastian Stan at the end being in on the scheme in some way, but it never happened. So...not really sure what the point of that subplot was.

I liked it a lot more than I thought I would based on the premise. It was a lot of silly fun and less reliant on Good Ol' Country Boy tropes than I expected it to be.

I really liked that the redneck theme was refreshingly done without making fun of rednecks just for being rednecks, which is surprisingly rare. Since EVERYONE was a redneck, each character stood out as an ignorant individual or an intelligent individual or an irresponsible individual or mature individual, et cetera, and weren't treated as universally anything as a group, like you see in Rednecks vs. Coastal Elites types of movies.

Two things I wish they had done differently:

- I wish they had done is given more screentime to Clyde. He had the most potential to be the character with tricks up his metaphorical sleeve. He's clearly the lorekeeper of the Logan family and had enough brainpower to memorize every single one of their incredible runs of bad luck, and I wish we had heard more about them and how or why Clyde became the family encyclopedia. He's also the one that knew Joe Bang and his brothers

- I wish they had brought in Hillary Swank's character earlier instead of having Max Chilblain be so prominent. Maybe after the bar fight he could have reported the car incident, then Swank's detective comes in to prove it was the Logans, but has no evidence? Then she's on their tail the whole time, and while the brothers are busy, the sister who's the most educated one of them has to deal with the detective, which would also give her more to do

All in all fun though.

I liked the kid at the beginning, John Denver, (despite fallout 76 i still like the song because of kingsman...)

2. Who was your favorite character in the movie? Your least favorite character? Why?
Sebastian Stan, if only because I love him. Honestly all of the rest, aside from the cake lady who got her car hit, she was nice.

3. What was your favorite scenes? Your least favorite? Why?
The George R.R. Martin scene, I laughed. And the cake lady getting money. Pretty much all the rest. Particularly the Child Abuse/Beauty Contest, because /why is everyone singing along!/ wtf!

4. What did you think of the soundtrack and/or score?
Like John Denver, not when the kid sung it though.

5. What did you think of the production (cinematography, editing, costuming, etc.)?
The cinematography was good in the one scene where he starts playing west Virginia and the sun comes out after he was fired.

I am so sorry, I really did not like this movie. At all.
It's way too Amercian, there was no cohesive storyline, there was no point! Why fuck over the two dudes that did all the work?! What's the point of the robbery in the first place?
Channing is probably a worse father then Katie Holmes is mother... Like no wonder she has custody, at least she doesn't use the daughter as an alibi for theft. He's just as condoning as she is about the contest.
The monotone, monotonous dialog is so dull. The only thing the explained was the gummi bears, and the entire scene was so out of place. Same with the half minute argument after Adam loses his arm. t goes from desperately trying to waste time, to rushing past any scene that might give any context for any of this to take place.
I am seriously trying to be positive, but I just can't.

My first reaction was, “West Virginia is so beautiful” and that was my last reaction as well. I had no idea what was going on initially, I purposely went into the movie blind and it took a while to work out it was a heist movie.

2. Who was your favorite character in the movie? Your least favorite character? Why?

Favourite characters – the Bang brothers. So hopeless! I liked Gleema as well. She had cats!

Least favourite was Max. I laughed because the villain had an English accent. Some tropes never fade.

3. What was your favorite scenes? Your least favorite? Why?
Favourite scene – the giant hose spraying money all over the place. If only I had one of those! And I enjoyed seeing Daniel Craig in his dressing gown and boots, looking like he’d just crawled out of a dustbin. So different from some of his other characters! Also enjoyed the Game of Thrones scene. You and the rest of the world, inmates!

Least favourite – the talent show. That kid under her makeup didn’t look quite human. *shudder * I was so glad she gave it up at the end. Hope they got her into cookery classes.

4. What did you think of the soundtrack and/or score?
Music was mostly unfamiliar but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

5. What did you think of the production (cinematography, editing, costuming, etc.)?
I don’t know enough about the technical side of things to comment, really, but it all worked well enough for me.

I liked the recurring “cauliflower” joke – and that we never got the backstory on that. One thing that I found jarring was that Memorial Day – the equivalent of Remembrance Day? – is apparently the date for a big sports occasion. Two nations separated by a single language indeed. I did enjoy that the heisters were robbing the big corporations, and giving to the poor and deserving. That gave me the warm and fuzzies. And how they knew phone surveillance had stopped was just priceless.
