137. Word. Seriously. I'm good with Rin/Haru, but I want to read Yuki/Haru sometimes, and all I can find is Kyo/Haru. I don't get it.

144. LMAO, oh God, I love you.

Thank you so much~
I thought I was alone in my Yuki/Haru love...

159. Jesus fuck yes. Man, how sad is it that I've watch a lot of popular dramas and shit, but a web-based machinima is what blows my mind?

Also, WHY IS THERE NOT GOOD FIC ANYWHERE? Am I just no lurking in the right places? Where's the fun, sibling-esque Caboose+Church fic? :may have to write it herself:

Re: 159

[identity profile] whatdied.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not sad at all. It did the same to me.

...I've read a lot of good Church/Caboose SLASH, but that's it. XD;

As much as I love the canon pairings in this series...I will always ship Yuki/Hatsuharu. I really love who they ended up with in the manga but...OTP. I can't help it.

[identity profile] ex-nightray.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
134. Now I ship it. THANKS, ANON.
167. THIS. And an actual death too, not just OMG THEY'RE DEAD... BUT IN THE FUTURE. I'll be dead some time in the future too. So will everyone else. Come on.

Re: 167

[identity profile] poisontea.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, I never actually took their deaths in the future to be an "OMG THEY'RE DEAD BAWWWWW" sort of thing. (Except on Lal's part: BAAAWWWWW.) More like in Tsuna's case, it was a "ticking clock" plot addition- putting forth the knowledge that they need to change things now, because otherwise, in the future something horrible will happen. Almost ten years is an awful long time, but then, they'd only be in their early twenties in that case- that's still really young, and none of the family (well, at least the inner circle) wants to even consider losing Tsuna. At this point they've basically been handed a time bomb and a hopeless "look what will happen to you."

With the Arcobaleno, it's actually an even better move. I'm a bit D: over their deaths because MAN that SUCKS, but instead of being a huge SHOCKER TIME TO MOURN THEM thing, I think what Amano was going for was something that really works- taking characters that, up to that point, seemed godmod and immortal, something more than human, and making them vulnerable. Showing that the Arcobaleno, kickass Mafia rapebabies that they are, can be brought down was a good move. It also led straight into Reborn agreeing to tell Yamamoto about the Arcobaleno, and I'm almost 100% certain that the next arc will have to do with what the hell the Arcobaleno curse is, which... I've been waiting for for a damn long time. That plot twist was an excellent move, plotwise.

Or, at least... yanno, my tl;dr opinion. XD; But then, I don't get the Gary Stu complaints at all anyway... soooo.

(Anonymous) 2008-10-06 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Ronon would have a lot of potential if the writers would actually write something interesting for him. Right now he's stuck in a fucking retarded triangle with McKay and Kill-her. Also, if the writers would stop jacking off to McKay and Sheppard and trying hard to appease the McShep fucks, more of the other characters would get good stories.

[identity profile] georg-vanlunden.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
101. I don't think it's so much that everyone hates her for doing those things as it is the fact she's in love with someone who opposes the heroes. Rational minds could probably look at the bigger picture, but I personally believe that most of the hate is just kneejerk reactions from people who wanted to see shit get drilled and because of Rossieu, did not get to see shit get drilled.

102. A thief of some kind? Sounds like it from the text, but I don't know who he is.

114. I wonder what Kojima would think about it, if he ever got to read it in... whatever way he could. I'd actually like to see his reaction to that perspective of the story.

120. There are... actually those who do that? Fo' real?

139. ... Well, they DID take their time getting back from that R.C car cra- oh god why must I think these things about tiny puppetpeople.

150. Well, you have to admit that having a man who is dead inside somehow decide to go for the girl he knows as his sister, which would be one gigantic risk for his reputation? Not the easiest thing to pull off without going majorly out of character, me thinks.

155. Yes... yes it would. I admit that maybe, just MAYBE it could work if, like... Ben told Locke that he had to do it because it was his destiny or something, but I can't see where the models would come from.

(Anonymous) 2008-10-07 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
120: Yep. And one carried on playing it despite being squeamish and then threw a fit afterward about TEH BLOOOOOOD.

As I told another person in these series of posts, I'd say it directly, but the group in question can be ban-happy for shit like that. But if I don't have somewhat of an audience to scream that response to, I'll explode in a big ball of frustrated hate.

106: I loved that story! Wasn't squicked, though.

139: Ahaha, yeah. Watching that movie, it was like "Look, tiny OTP!" They are so slashable. But so... tiny.

150: "Not even blood related"? Yeah, when you sleep with your adopted sibling, that's totally not as bad. Dude, sleeping with the person you grew up with is so much more incest-y on an emotional level than sleeping with a relative you never knew. It's not the blood, it's the relationship.

Re: 150

(Anonymous) 2008-10-06 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
(Not OP). This is true. But neither blood relation nor growing up in close proximity seem to be impediments for other fandoms (Heroes, SPN, Fullmetal Alchemist, etc.)...maybe that's what is causing the "???"

I'm not in the fandom (though I've read the books), but my first thought was that it's not written because it's a het pairing. :|

158. Okay, I did laugh. But her song was pretty catchy (and I sometimes go to YouTube just to listen to the song Mr. Hyunh sang on Hey Arnold, so I'm not going to throw stones).

103. And if they do care that much, then you really need some new friends.

113. I think I use Urban Dictionary and ED more than I use a real dictionary. :(

121. Well, it depends on what your watching, but there are tons of anime series more serious than Doctor Who.

154. Yakipan was a far more obvious parody, is all. I found TTGL hilarious, but then I watch a lot of mecha anime.

156. I agree. I think I would have still found anime fandom without Toonami, but it would've happened years later. I doubt fandom would be as big today without it. It may not have the best way to get anime for most of its run, but it was the "gateway drug" for a lot of people. Watching that felt like losing a piece of my childhood...

N!S1: Uh, that's what I'm doing, genius. Doesn't mean I don't have the right to complain about how they said they'd redeem themselves and yet utterly failed.

N!S2: I don't think the story told is good, but I think there are some good stories in there. Carlisle's history, the Volturi's rise to power, a more indepth telling of Jasper's past... those would all be great stories in the hands of a talented author. Unfortunately...

tb2: I didn't mind the silly names because I remembered that this was a children's book and they were the ones who would have needed the "happily ever after" ending.

101. I think the main reason people disliked Kinon for sticking with Rossiu was that she ignored/hurt her family in the process of doing so. So as long as you don't do that, you should be fine? :D; Anyway, not everyone hates Rossiu and Kinon, don't worry. The people who do are just really loud, and sometimes it's hard not to dislike them initially when watching the 3rd arc because it's such a shock, even if the things they do are understandable once you think about it.

118. LOL

154. TTGL is a homage to past mecha shows, and sometimes pokes fun at them, but it is mostly a serious show. Yakitate!! Japan is one of my favorite anime, and so is Gurren Lagann, but I think of those two as very different shows. Yakipan is pure parody/comedy, while Gurren Lagann is earnest in its themes, story, and characters, using cliches and tropes as a backbone (which is a theme in the show itself- using the old to pave the way for the new). I'm sorry that you didn't like it, but I guess you can't please everybody.

165. I wanted Alto dead too. Mainly because his boyfriend had already died and I wanted them to have a happy and gay afterlife together.

Sheryl/Ranka end was totally acceptable though!

[identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
121 - I don't know what anime you are into, but what I've seen of Doctor Who was downright stupid, badly acted and badly scripted. So... yeah.

154 - Well, I agree. I haven't seen much of TTGL but it seemed to pretend to be a satire/homage rather than being one for real.

Incidentally, I think that Sousei no Aquarion is the best homage to the giant robot genre... but of course Aquarion hasn't been hyped to death so nobody knows it, plus it has icky pretty boys and even *gasp!* hints of homosexuality *gasp!* so it has no chance with rabid fanboys.

160 - Newsflash: half of the fandom does the same thing. You won't be alone.

163 - <3

165 - Sheryl/Ranka ftw! I hope the movie will be about how the two of them realize that they love each other more than they've ever loved Alto.

104. I range from being a grammar nazi who automatically reads your comments as if you had an IQ of less than 40 when they include phrases like "u r so cool!" to adapting internet slang into my daily vocabulary. If you're doing it for funsies or for irony, it's grand. If that's honest the way you actually converse with people on the internet, the rule rather than the exception, grow the slag up. But just between friends/sibs--it's just for the lols.

107. Heh, I have that pic saved. I wish there was a story with it, because that Hyde and that Jekyll are kinda hot and cool. But self-cest? Nah, not so much. Just...does not compute. I read a drabble of it with Blitzwing, and...it made the opposite of sense. Even moreso than being about Blitzwing should've.

121. Doctor Who isn't everyone's thing, and Dr. Horrible apparently annoys some people, but that's a horrible reason to deprive yourself of Life on Mars. At 16 episodes, its' not a huge chunk of your time, and it's one of the most brilliant shows I've ever seen, with the best ending since M*A*S*H.
I'm not an anime fan so much anymore, but there's no reason you can't be well-rounded. Heck, no offense, but I think less of people who watch only anime and avoid live action shows. Granted, even not being a fan, I still think it's a bit stuck up to not even try anime because it's just a cartoon, and to stick to only live action.

123. You had to say it? You had to say it? Ah well, I hope you're right. After the recent episode, though, it seems a bit...cooler. But I'm hoping it gets back to it's old self soon.

128. Aww. I dunno, I always shipped 'em, never thought of them as twins, but I like that angle a lot, actually (sans the shipping). Screw it; call each other what you want. There's folks who ship everything; don't let them take away a clannish in-joke you have with your sib.

130. WORD! "It's Avatar, but they're all in high school!" 0.o...whyyyy? (Okay, fine, I had a Slayers High fic once, but it turned out to be an actual plot point that still tied into the canon of the show eventually...)

139. I think maybe it's just too easy? Heck, I was practically shipping 'em by the end of it all.

156. Wait, was this...recent? Okay, actually...I am a little sad now. I do miss my old Toonami days. Real Adventures of Johnny Quest, man. And Moltar! But is that Tom? Yeesh, ch-ch-changes, man.
