I've just always thought he was under-used and under appreciated. Riley may not be the history buff Ben is, but if it weren't for him Ben wouldn't have even kind of been able to do the stuff Riley helped him do (i.e. steal the Declaration, get to the Queen's study in Buckingham Palace, etc.).
