148. Hey Arnold is a really beautiful show ♥

Hell yeah! :D

[identity profile] rain-of-mind.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
No other sci-fi series to date beats B5 in my book. ♥

148

[identity profile] siriuslynow.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's hard to compare, only because the plot, locations and tone of the the stories are both so different. I just love them both. ♥

108. Lee looked awesome in that. >3
124. I FREAKIN' LOVE RILEY! XD
135. YES!
140. Me with Newsies and Four Brothers. I'd hit ONE of them in Newsies (or two... come on, there are so much of them!), but mostly I'd like to just have those characters as my "older brothers". Especially in Four Brothers. >3
142. *whoosh* OH YEAH--THAT'S ISAAC! Oh God, he's not allowed to be so hot. ><
n!s 1: Loool, what're you talking about? I'm Ramandu's Daughter! XD *didn't even read the whole secret*

#121 - THAT'S HOT.

#135 - I KNOW WHAT YO MEAN

104. Tezuka is pretty amazing--I'm not a big a fan of him as my one friend, but if you feel that way you and her would probably get along splendidly :3

127. :C Yea. It makes me a little sad that the characters of M1 are so often forgotten, too. Especially considering the rest wouldn't have followed without them.

148. I miss that show. So effing much.

139

112. I'm so with you on this. :) I miss that show so much!

[identity profile] annwyd.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
111. I wish more people in fandom could admit to feeling like that about relationships. There are lots of 'couples' that I don't want to actually be couples, but who still make me go ♥ ♥ ♥ when they interact.

...and yeah, Elliot and the Janitor are among that number.

129. I agree. I don't like every single translation/pronunciation choice they've made, but I think overall they've done an excellent job with dubbing this series.

136. I love the pairing, but they're designed to be so perfect for each other that I don't think you should get too attached to the hope of something like it happening in real life.

But, well. Some people do find ~*~true love~*~. And maybe the appeal of stories like Simon/Nia is the hope that just maybe, everybody has the chance of finding someone as perfect for them as Simon and Nia were for each other.

138. I love all three of those pairings, and find that there are too few fans of the ones on the left, so rock on.

But I differ in that I'm invested in Allelujah/Soma as a relationship, but I don't really care whether it turns out platonic or romantic.

Edited to add that I want to know where you found that Kati/Patrick picture. I love them so much but haven't found much fanart for them. D:

144. For me the appeal of that episode, and Kittan's best moments, wasn't in the actual deliciously over-the-top death scene but in his quiet decision, sealed with a kiss, to make the sacrifice.

In that sense, while Kittan's death is more over the top than most, the part of it that's over the top is the part that's not about his death but about his reaching his full potential and being cheered on by Team Dai-Gurren the whole time (and having that be melodramatic is consistent with GL). The part where he actually accepts his death is very quiet and contained in a brief and poignant exchange with Yoko.

148. You can love HA! all you want (and a lot of my friends love it and Avatar as well), but I'll still think that Avatar was impressively well-developed. :)

SERIOUSLY!!!!

I think we should all start running around with our cameras videotaping ourselves dancing to that damn song that I can't ESCAPE!! I swear, it follows me now.

[identity profile] sexyfemalealien.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
112 -- Babylon 5 should be required viewing for all sci-fi fans.

Amen to that, my friend.

[identity profile] soaker87.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
138. Somehow, I find the romances in mecha anime to be some of the best anime love stories out there. They're certainly more enjoyable than some of the drawn-out melodrama in actual romance anime.

148. I adore Hey Arnold. It's possibly better than Avatar. I think Avatar's development is just shocking for Nickelodeon's modern standards, where most of their programming is pure trash that I can't even force myself to watch. But Avatar certainly deserves the love it gets.

You may have something there. For me, love stories set against a backdrop of war and conflict somehow seem more poignant, and mecha anime (usually) satisfies this nicely.

Tears of Life truly is beautiful. :)

144: HOW WAS KAMINA'S DEATH NOT MELODRAMATIC?

[identity profile] 7thisgod.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably because he killed Thymilph, died, SILENT MOMENT and that was that. It was very brief, without emotional manipulation. I do believe OP is missing the point that Kittan's death was OVER-THE-TOP because it was an action scene as much as it was a dramatic piece of character development.

[identity profile] sistermagpie.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
114-OMG, me too! (And I can't believe I remembered that dress so well--Robin's, not Anna's.)

131-I am kind of amazed at how the show has made me buy this too.

132-Dexter is just that good. It kind of makes you sad that it is fake, not just because it's not real for us but because he can't even honestly wish it were real for him. If that makes sense.

140-Not at all. Less pressure, imo. Also having a great bff is awesome.

148-Never watched it, but don't find the dialogue contrived and bad in Avatar. Obviously working with the kind of story it is etc., but it fits the style.

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
117. You're strange.

[identity profile] ronsard.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
117. You sound kind of vehement, but the gist of your secret is basically 'a perceived drop in quality will lead to me dropping a series'. Does no one else do this? Why is it such a big deal?

[identity profile] teostra.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)

101. Holy shit, they look alike. I can't unsee it now.

135. That was all sorts of EPIC. I no longer picture Stallone when I hear "Eye of the Tiger" (THANK GOD).

112

[identity profile] shinshokuinsane.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
112. Babylon 5 was the king of all science-fiction, at least in terms of actual quality. Don't worry; it stands for itself against the test of time, unlike series that happen to just be passingly popular!

[identity profile] bodyline.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
138: I've only seen a bit of the first season so I must know; who is that in the middle picture?

(Anonymous) 2008-10-29 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Patrick Colosawar and Kati Mannequin. Or something to that effect, G00's spelling is ridiculous.
