I'm really surprised by how many people haven't seen Babylon 5. The show laid the groundwork for every serialized sci-fi program afterward, so it should at least be acknowledged as such. We wouldn't have New Battlestar or the myriad Stargate series or any given serial that's coming up without it, so yeah. Respect your elders. And is there a fandom presence online? Like at all? The first online anything I did was a chat with JMS after "Grey 17 is Missing," so you'd think there'd still be a lot out there.

112. So, after hearing how OMG AWESOME this show is, and how much it took from one of my favorite series (Blake's 7), I finally gave it a try. I suffered through the first two horrible seasons because people promised me it "Got better." I finally gave up half-way through season four. (The doctor and the ranger dude just took a trip to Mars.)

Did I give up too soon? Should I really have to watch four seasons of near-to-utter crap to get to something remotely enjoyable? There was one episode (a little war where the opposing sides fought together against the spidery-ships) that I enjoyed. ONE. EPISODE.

Did I mention they replaced the entire cast save one character between the pilot and S4? WTF? You can't make prophecies about main characters and then write them off the show and replace them with new characters who fulfill the same phophecy in a slightly different way. It's just stupid, sorry. Continuity only works and is awesome when it makes sense. Sinclair-to-Sheridan and Talia-to-Lyta just . . . doesn't make any fucking sense narratively.

Um.


Sorry, this is a rant, but I want to see all this magic and I just don't. What did I miss? (Please don't spoil me, though, in case I do ever finish it.) I get it had some neat "forward thinking" moments. But having an openly bisexual character and showing vacuuming the station and people using toilets just doesn't automagically make a show good.

Perhaps they wanted to give Kittan one moment where he truly shined in a big and obvious way, as opposed to all the times when he did cool stuff, but always ended up losing the coolball because he couldn't figure out what to say or how to follow stuff up in an epic way? Which one can of course have negative and positive opinions about, but the way I see it he got a chance to shine in an overblown way, and I personally enjoyed seeing it.

Are you supporting the middle ground? I'm sorry, but here on the Internet, that's simply not allowed. If there are two good shows that are different but both on the same channel, you can only love one and hate the other with a fiery passion. At the most, you may hate *both* with a fiery passion.

Likewise, you can only love one kind of gender pairing and think fans of all the others are all victims of severe emotional trauma that need psychiatric help. Alternately, there's the "I hate all pairing fic, why is there no good gen" corner.

142. Lancelot is like the perfect human being. And Santiago Cabrera is utterly adorable. I love how in every publicity cast photo, on every event, he always has this innocent smile, like he can hardly believe he's where he is and people are photographing him.
I'm so happy for him to have this role (I hope there will be more Lancelot in the future! D:) where he's appreciated and beloved. <3
