105. Jesus Christ he has a pretty face. I almost thought he was a woman.

108. Yeah I kinda have to agree here. For the most part, anyway.

123. Out of plain and simple curiosity, why?

141. And I thought he was a woman too, at first glance. GODDAMMIT, F!S, STOP WITH ALL THE GIRLY MEN. You're confusing my sexuality.

145. I just prefer subs because I'm a language geek and there's a lot of depth (sentence endings, which form of "I/me" a character uses, and often honorifics) that just doesn't translate at all.

123 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-11-19 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Largely because they seem to treat RPing as such serious business and there's always all this massive drama about it. And also partly because pretending to be a fictional character strikes me as silly, but I'd like RPers in general a lot better if more of them seemed to treat it as just a game.

Unless you're trying to make them realise, I'm sorry, but you are a complete ass-hat. If they've linked that secret to you, then they're obviously going to make the link with this one too seeing as, you know, you mentioned the whole 'themfindingyouout' bit.

If you're trying to make them realise it's you, you're still an ass for been too chicken to say yes the first time.

108. I'm a traditional animation lover too, but come on... Pixar? WALL-E will never be crap to me.

127. I guarantee most people wouldn't be saying Usagi doesn't deserve Mamoru if he had more of a personality in the anime. I love manga and PGSM Mamoru to bits, but anime Mamoru is so... meh.

136. It's the only episode of Who I've seen (apart from Blink), and it still broke my heart. I couldn't care less about some future love interest when she lost stutterboy forever.

I can definitely see a passive-aggressive lesbian computer with that kind of 1920s haircut, in a situation where she'd have hair.

Dude. *__* Thats how I imagined her cut when I had to play her human'd. How cool.

--Ive never actually seen her done up all cute, though. T-the thought is scary, to me.

[identity profile] rinnia.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
106. Ah! How I wish I used a red and green deck now.

108. I've found that the quality has nothing to do with the animation style or mechanics and everything to do with the attitude and care put into the project. Case in point: Atlantis :\

116. There are so many things wrong with that viewpoint. Apparently, nobody can fangirl over a character without being attracted to him. It's possible, I assure you. Also, it seems like you're confusing looking young with being a child. Mentally, Near's not anywhere near being a child. He may play with toys, but his brain's not wired like your standard kid. Or your standard adult, really, which is part of why I find him so fascinating, but I digress. Oh, and even if I did want to tap him? His birthday is August 24, 1991, which makes him 19 at the end of the manga. Lots of people look younger than they are, and that doesn't mean anyone interested in them is a pedophile. Looks aren't everything, you know.

123. What's so bad about having an imagination? I don't even roleplay, but I find that attitude worrying. Life isn't about hitting age 18 and being professional 24/7.

147. For me, that wouldn't be painful, but it would be horribly uncomfortable. Maybe she's just used to the sensation and that's what feels normal to her. *shrugs* If I'm overlooking the fact that they use mecha many many times larger than our sun, I can overlook her outfit's weird cut.

155. Personally, I could watch Travis Wall open a jar of olives and find it sexy. And I hate olives.

Fucking YES! <3 Usagi can go get her romance on with Seiya (they had better chemistry most of the time anyway :p) Mamoru was totally too good for her.

126. Huzzah, Hello, Dolly! Oh yeah, I can totally see Irene/Minnie and Cornelius/Barnaby.

128. I love those commercials! "They're rollover minutes! They're the same thing!" You're right, there should be a commercials fandom, with crossover fic and general squee.

130. I don't actively boycott, though, looking at my userpics, I don't think I've actually used any from closed comms. I guess it's because I can't help but be extra critical of icons that are only available for a few days, and I stopped joining comms just for icons years ago.

I had little to no concept of the sort of adult situations I roleplay now at age 23 when I was eight years old. Just because I like to be a little bit escapist from time to time doesn't mean I'm not emotionally mature.

[identity profile] velvet-mace.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
101) The need for closure is one of the most painfully intense emotions there is. I hope you and your relatives find some peace soon.

119) Sporking is evil fun -- but only if taken in a not serious way, with a memory that everyone goes through a period when their writing is naive and they fall into common cliches and other logical traps. This is why I find most sporks to be boring as sin -- they are making fun of the mediocre rather than the truly amusingly bad. If a fic is full of errors that anyone can make it's just not worthy of being sporked.

123) 1/10

136) Well they got to all live together virtually on the moon, so there was a bit of a happy ending there.

138) Let the n00bs go! Their reasons for watching were paper thin to start off with. There are plenty of us left who enjoy the whole show, and happily watch all the Doctors incarnations. Besides, the next doctor will pick up another crop of fly-by-night fans who insist that 11 is the only doctor who really matters.

142) Hey, if a Coca-cola commercial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mOEU87SBTU) can turn into a beloved peace anthem, an olympic song can be a rally cry for (or against) Prop 8.

147) I just think, "In ten years those are going to be hanging around her knees."

[identity profile] shadsie.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed, about the not being so serious thing. I used to be into sporking, but I'm not anymore precisely because I got sick of the attitude most people had about it: The sporking of the merely mediocre gets old (and sometimes I find I sometimes actually like sometimes.... I do seek out and read cheesy fics on occasion because I find myself "in the mood for cliche' cheese" rather than the usual "makes me think" fare - and I don't like being condemmed for that). Also, there's the uber-serious attitude a lot of people get, where they're acting like the author of a fic they're making fun of is a horrible, horrible person who should have their writing hand cut off/burn in hell/is tainting the fandom/should never have been born, etc.

I've run into both kinds. I used to have friends of mine give my old fanfics the MSTK treatment - I used to be in a fandom that did that and it was all done in a spirit of fun and humor... then I hung out with the "serious sporkers" for a while, and... ugh.

If you know places where it's all done with a spirit of fun, the authors are not condemned and nothing is taken seriously, I may want to check it out - but I've come to avoid any "spork" community anymore preciesly because I've had my fill of the other attitude and it seems like that's all there is these days?

ONE OH ONE

[identity profile] sparklemagpie.livejournal.com 2008-11-19 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Oh God... I'm so sorry for your loss. =(

Something like this happened to a family who live in a city close to mine recently. Their 15-year-old son ran away after a fight about a video game and he died before they could find him. I didn't personally know the family but your secret makes me think of that and how I had hoped he would be found when his story was in the papers, that his life wouldn't end on such hard terms with his family... And now I really wish that Ned was real for him too. ;_;

Even if it can't be real, I hope that the thought can give you comfort somehow anyway... *HUGS*

I totally know what that is! I love that manga! It's so sweet and it really makes you appreciate the little things in life.

109. I found that hilarious, too. I adored Adam, but I wasn't so hurt about him dying since c'mon, he's been wreaking havoc for 400 years and I considered him "dead" on the show when Hiro put him in that coffin and went "wtf?" when he briefly came back. But I was happy to see Maya removed of her superpower of whine. It evened out, I think. xD

118. Erica's Lois is amazing! I, too, spent the first three seasons lamenting about the lack of canon Chlark, but when she showed up, and I got used to her snarky ways, then I realized I was totally okay with the show's handling of it. Their love-hate relationship's so brilliant. :D

152. I'm the same way, but with Monsters, Inc. So I totally understand where you're coming from. :)
