All good. Just doing...what I usually do, minus going in to work.

Well I don’t think it’s coronavirus, but I feel like shit today and was running a low-grade fever earlier. I’m pretty sure my body’s gearing up for my period. My joints hurt and I have a kind of sinus headache going on. And I need to go to the store because I’m almost out of pads.

At least I probably won’t have to work through it? Idk, actually getting my period is easier than dealing with PMS, so I hope that’s all this is. I’ve only interacted with other humans IRL two days out of the last two weeks, to get groceries and go to the vet. I’ve been semi-conscious on the couch with my cat most of the day.

Badly. I've had headaches for the past few days, and IDK if they're bourne of sleeplessness, worry, migraines, or hypochondria.

Also, i miss hugs.

Would be a lot better if I had an outdoor space to be locked down in. I need air.

I'm personally doing ok today. But am getting annoyed with people in the UK complaining about prisons being tested for the virus, saying they should just get it and if they die too bad etc.

My brother-in-law is a prison officer, so he can't stay at home. He's NOT a criminal. And not that I really go in for the whole "criminals should be punished by lack of health care" angle that this is taking, but if you leave the inmates aside it's as though people are forgetting that the STAFF are also at risk. Disease spreads rapidly in prison but all anyone can think about is some form of justice boner while ignoring the fact it's not just the "bad guys" who'll get sick. My brother-in-law returns home every night to my sister and two kids under 4 for example.

So basically...I'm handling the lockdown ok for once but am getting pissed off at other people using it as an excuse to be self-righteous without thinking about what they're saying.

Day one of unemployment. At least the process of applying wasn't too horrible. Crocheting now and watching Tiger King.

I’m okay, but I really need to get off my ass. I do my work in bed and then I just sit on the couch all day.

Okay, really. I'm not bored or dealing with cabin fever, but I'm rather sick of people fighting on Facebook about the virus, social distancing policies and politics.

I'm doing all right! I'm very solitary to begin with, so I'm not minding the lack of face-to-face people contact? The main thing I'm missing is the freedom to go out and buy snacks! How silly is that? I'm really going to have to up my snack game next I'm in the grocery store. More pizza rolls! More frozen tater tots! MOAR. CHEETOHS.

I'm also not liking that for the two weeks I've been working from home both Sunday afternoons have had a Work Crisis. First, it was getting stuff together to finalize bank loans and now it's for the new government PPP stuff. I'm happy it only took three hours of my Sunday, though. My poor boss got proverbially tackled by lawyers first thing Sunday morning.

According to my bosses, we're essential, and they just. Don't know how to work remotely? Don't want to put in the effort? Think that somehow we're protected from the virus because we're a small office? My partner is a teacher and is working from home and I want to be home with her, instead of staying in my office as much as possible and constantly using hand sanitizer (which I'm going to run out of soon). But nah. They decided to expand our shift to 9 hours and give us one extra day off a week instead. So uh, anybody hiring work from home positions?

Another than that, the only thing keeping me from breaking down in tears is Animal Crossing.

Not too bad at the moment. There have been a few really stressful days dealing with everything but things seemed to have calmed down in my family for the time being so I'm trying to just hang out and relax for now.

Re: How's everybody handling lockdown?

(Anonymous) 2020-03-31 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Actually doing really well working remotely. I've settled into a routine, I get to engage in creative endeavors during slower times of the day, and I'm losing weight because I'm not stuck behind a desk for 8 hours a day. Which is good because it looks like we're in for at least 5 more weeks of it. I fully expect furloughs down the road, but right now it's one day at a time, and I'm living every day with that in mind.

Sometimes I miss interaction with my colleagues, but overall it's startling how well I've adjusted - enjoyed, even! - minimal interaction with other people.

I've never in my life been so grateful for employment, shelter, and food nor realized how precarious all of those things are. It's humbling.

I'm okay right now. I had a few days where I was feeling stir crazy and house cleaning. Right now I'm hormonal, though, which makes me want to stay inside and bundle up warm, and also the pollen count has been off the chart. So I've been reading in blanket piles with a couple heating pads while dosed up on benadryl.

I got sucked into tvtropes yesterday, and that should keep me occupied for a while.

Still at work. Couple of nurses, doctors, and people from my own department getting tested/are positive, so a little bit stressed.

My boss is letting me work from home two to three days a week since a lot of my stuff is IT/prep-work for our new hospital so I don't need to always be on site, but yeah, as a barely controlled asthmatic with other medical issues, I'm a little stressed.

okay in some regards, not so much in others. I have worked from home for the past six years but I don't like having to stop and second-guess whether the thing I feel like I need is "essential" enough to require going out. at what point do I stop morally wrestling with whether I can justify buying grass seed for my sad lawn?

I'm actually doing really well! My job's gone fully remote, so I get to keep working and I like my work. Being stuck at home is my fav. place to be and I find I'm mentally feeling a lot more stable than I've been in a while thanks to the time to recharge.

And getting to work in my jammies and take a break to go do dishes is really great.

Re: How's everybody handling lockdown?

(Anonymous) 2020-03-31 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Doing just fine, actually. I haven't been this productive in months in terms of getting stuff done around the house because I'm usually too tired from my job, which is really reinforcing the fact that I need to look into finding a job that will let me work from home.

Re: How's everybody handling lockdown?

I already replied to this thread earlier, but now I’m facing a moral dilemma and also just a dilemma period. I was offered the chance to go back to work today.

I’ve been on paid leave for two weeks because most of my job is impossible to do from home and our union is awesome, but now that we may be in lockdown through at least the end of April, I doubt they can keep paying us to sit around because 90% or more of our budget (city government) is probably tourism money, and tourism isn’t happening right now.

If I went back to work, the temp job I was offered would be helping the homeless which is great because especially right now, they need all the help they can get. But the job would be downtown, ten miles from where I am, and I normally take public transit.

Transit is still running here, even though we’re under a shelter in place order, and I realize it’s kind of dumb to be more worried about taking buses and trolleys than about helping homeless people for eight hours a day, but I am. If I could work with the homeless in my neighborhood and get paid for it, I’d be fine with that. I offered to try biking downtown, but I guess my shift would end at 9 pm every day so the person who called me didn’t think it’d be safe.

TL, DR—I feel like a coward for turning down a chance to help people because right now I’m more afraid of taking the bus than helping run an ad-hoc homeless shelter.

Three more days until I'm allowed to step foot outside the house! I don't have any desire to go anywhere in particular, but I do want to go buy a cup of bubble tea. Also I can probably start to eat at the table instead of bringing food into my room to eat alone, so that would be nice.

It's not too different from my normal life, but somehow my sleep schedule has gotten even more fucked up from it. Weird.
