You are so cool. <3

101, 105, 124, 132, 133, 139, 153, 155

101: I'm sorry you don't have friends who you can tell about your interests. Must be stressful.

105: I've always preferred short guys. Kyo (http://xe7.xanga.com/5acb2aeb4243138512722/m25158181.jpg) from Dir en grey (just a google pic) cemented it, though. XD

124: I only know D.Gray-man and Kuroshitsuji, but those at least are amazing. I hope your friend tries them! I actually picked up that exact poster of Ciel when I was in Japan a few months ago. I love it. ♥

132: Sorry, but when a book is this bad, people will make assumptions about you if you like it. Or at least about your taste. They'll definitely wonder if you've ever read any other books, if you like this one...

133: Non-canon stories about fictional characters truly is a horrible thing.

139: Actually, 14 or 15 can be legal, depending on where in the world the fic takes place (and for other worlds, you can decide yourself).

153. I think you should narrow down your definition of the portion of manga fans that you hate. A lot of us never set foot in that shop (mostly because we live in different countries), and only a certain subset of the fandom tend to squeal.

155: No, these are truly the worst books I've ever read. They were worse than the "Rhapsody" books! Saying they're better than a couple of classics won't actually make them so.

155

[identity profile] sarolynne.livejournal.com 2008-11-27 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
...Oh my god, you're right. They are even worse than Rhapsody, and those were my measure for terrible for a long time.

I never thought to compare.

[identity profile] tariana.livejournal.com 2008-11-27 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
145 -- you're not alone!

[identity profile] 3goodtimes.livejournal.com 2008-11-27 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
144. I like him too.

153. As a manga fan, I'm totally with you. Not because of the screaming or squealing (I've never experienced that), but because of the people who sit and read in the freakin aisle!

There are chairs three feet away! GTFO so I can find my damn comics you inconsiderate whores!

162.

Uuuughh... just thinking about "Red Clowns" still freaks me out. *shudder*

109) Yea, even if you were a preschooler, or even if you were talking about a teenage-adult show, you would still need to get a life.
135) Look on the bright side, you could die tomorrow.
155) Amen.

As a fellow bookstore employee, THIS. I am a big manga and anime fan, but I know your pain all too well, my friend. I've seen them plenty and have had to deal with them all too often. I often wish I had my grandmotherly coworker's ability to just give them a warning look for their actions and they'd end up magically dispersing as a result.

Thus, my solution for you: Hire an angry old woman at your store. Those little old ladies scare the crap out of them.

CAN'T UNSEE.

I've only just started to watch GL, but I would love to see a crossover fic of this now...

[identity profile] samuraiter.livejournal.com 2008-11-27 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
That icon – femme!Naruto on the toilet? I can't unsee that X-D *saves for posterity*

[identity profile] fail-cookie.livejournal.com 2008-11-27 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
151: I kind of dislike that too (Not to the extent of quitting a fic altogether though) But I'm British and (well, i don't know about Irish or Welsh people) but it's actually not that common to actually hear someone say 'arse' :/ A lot of the time people just say 'ass' ^.^;Unless they have like, really posh accents. It just depends on where you're from really.

(Also i love my icon for this comment XDDDD)

I have never in my life heard a British person say ass, unless they were specifically referring to a donkey O.o

Another B&N employee chiming in. We have the same situation in our store, but not only do these manga campers block the manga by sitting in the aisle, but the mystery section and the lane we use to take the v-carts and h-carts of books out of the warehouse.

Also, our store is near several universities so we have people with laptops stretching their cords across the floor to every available power outlet. It's gotten to the point where we can call a manager to ask people to leave for causing a safety hazard.

Douchebags come in all shapes and sizes and demographics. Personally I order all my manga in so I can get a fresh copy that hasn't been handled a thousand times, and don't bother with that area except to clean it up after hours.

Re: 153

[identity profile] skelly-r0x0r.livejournal.com 2008-11-27 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
and people are consistently fucking there, too! it's never a dull moment in mangaland. not to mention if they're sitting on the ground and you're handling a customer who needs a graphic novel PAST all the manga, you need to step through carefully because no one moves. ever.

101. you seriosuly think that FANDOM has ruined ALCOHOL for you. Surely that's better than ALCOHOL ruing your LIFE? Anyway, I TOTALLY GET THIS, because I don't get drunk for worry of what I will say, either. I don't think I'll ever talk about fandom, but who knows what I might say :S

108. Stupid people suck.

110. :)

111. I got addicted the The Sims a few years back. messes with your brain, that does. "Now, just need to do some exercise to get my fitness levels up" *headdesk*

115. I think I know what you mean. Not with them, but similar.

116. PRODUCTIVE FANDOM FOR THE WIN.

126. I'm kind of dying to know who that couple is...

127. LOLZ

135. I'm not a fan. But AWWW. that's so sad :(

147. Really? Don't you think you'd go a bit insane? *has thought about it a bit too much*

151. Yes. It can be a great fic - plotty, in character, hot, whatever - but if someone uses americanisms when they're not American (I don't tend to read much fic with American characters in. They're just not in my fandoms), then I stop reading right there.

173. Does anyone 'call' him Robert? I mean, really.

(Anonymous) 2008-11-27 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
162: Nobody fucking cares. Why does this have to be a secret, anyway? Are you friends with Sandra Cisneros?

[identity profile] tommytonebender.livejournal.com 2008-11-27 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
108. Wow. There is soooo much more to PD than "dead people". It's like magic.

113. The hell? They look like really crappy J-rock cosplayers. Ew. XD

135. :(

137. HRG is really the only reason I'm still watching Heroes. I love him.

153. I hate going into the manga section because there's always like 4 obnoxious "kawaii desu" fangirls sitting in the isle, and I really don't want to be lumped in with them. Plus the ones at my local stores make comments about everything I look at and don't move if they're sitting in the way of a bookcase.

155. THANK YOU, ANON.

164. I love her too. Not because I can relate to her being upper-class, but we deal with a lot of the same issues.

165. Aw. That's sweet.

151, 153

(Anonymous) 2008-11-27 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
151. Ugh, agree so much. It's just... do some basic research before you bang out your fic, okay? If I were to write a fic in another country, I'd research their slang and word usage.

153. This is why my friends, who work at a Borders, are slowly but surely shrinkwrapping all the manga. They're sick of the campers who sit in the aisle with ten manga, bend them up, sweat all over them, and leave a huge mess. Soon, they will have nothing to fondle without reading! Bwahaha.

Re: 151, 153

(Anonymous) 2008-11-27 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
err, fondle without buying. Darn posting anon, no way to edit.

my store is big to the extent where we have a fulltime kids dept staff, so i'm always back there, and the FUCKING manga is RIGHT FUCKING THERE.

the absolute WORST was when anime boston rolled into town and the entire aisle was made up of cosplayers with tails and wings and fake guns all standing in the aisle and taking up space and coming into my section to read their fucking manga and then leaving the books all over the place like a bomb went off in the manga section.

a little respect for the working woman, please?

153. I work for Borders, and I feel your pain for the same reason. What's worse is that those sumbitches have gotten into the habit of trying to steal the manga when they think I'm not looking.

160. Any MK secret deserves a shout-out. Especially for Sareena / Noob (hell, anybody / Noob).

N!S. Yes. ;-)

OP of Secret 160 speaking!

Thanks~ I love that couple to death. The Mythologies cutscenes were hook, line and sinker.

I find it interesting that you emphasize "anybody." ...Do you normally ship Sareena/Noob, or do you just want the guy to get laid? XD
