I don't know why people seem so down on this (and the movie in general). I've seen a lot of random artists come up with Hatter designs similar to Burton's and people should really have expected this kind of look from him. I don't understand why people have a problem with it, what did you want? It won't be the end of the world, anyway, there are about eleventy billion versions of "Alice" and they've all been different.

It's not like the book is very constraining about the character. He could act the lines verbatim in at least four or five completely distinct ways. Some people are coming off the Disney version like they expect this film to be exactly like it.

I thought the first of the two episodes was fabulous -- so many people were all, "Eww, Sam and Ruby!" but I thought the sex was both hot and in character. And Anna seemed like she might be an o.k. character, and Alisdair looked like he might be creepy, and the angels came in, and it seemed like it might be kick-ass ...

and then it all turned into a complete and utter disaster. I seriously don't know what they were thinking with the second part. Did the actors and directors know it was ridiculously embarrassingly spectacularly bad? The lines were awful, the sex made me close my eyes and mute the t.v., and Anna was ... oh well. I really really need to let it go.

I teach high school kids, and I totally agree. The only reason high school romance is anything special is because it's all so new - your brain is finally solidifying after being hormone jello in middle school, so you can actually process things, but you've never felt like this before. Once you get over the novelty, it's so much better when you have a clue what you're doing.
