I think the first part is actually Po(r)k(e)y's theme. It's called "Pokey Means Business", at any rate. And it is awesome.

...apparently the static in Giygas' theme is garbled Japanese for "Let me out of here" and the like. Power of suggestion has me hearing something like "get me outta here" in English. D:

...I really should bite the bullet and emulate the darn thing, shouldn't I.

In my case it's not specifically because it's given Nintendo problems; it's because I'm a bit leery of emulation. So, since Nintendo is having problems putting it on the Virtual Console... yeah.

Then again, I used an emulator when my own favorite obscure game that I didn't think was going to be re-released hadn't been Virtual Console'd yet, so... maybe when I've finished beating Paper Mario now that I'm old enough to remember it.

110. Being stalked isn't something a lot of people understand until they've experienced it. The girls that go "He's watching her sleep, it's so romantic!" bug me, because it's really really not. 142] Dear God, no! This makes me so sad in the pants. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is my favorite book and Through the Looking-Glass, my second... and as much I love Helena Bonham Carter and Alan Rickman being in this movie, I think I might cry because Tim Burton is going to fuck this book in the ass. I didn't even like Disney's version because it's horrible. I mean, the NBC version might not have been wonderful, but at least it stayed true to the book.

151] I might hate you just a little. Are you kidding me? I hate Anne Rice, but I mean, Stephanie Meyer doesn't even deserve to be in the same picture as her. Meyer is a horrible writer. And I think neither of them are better than Hamilton. Sure, she's screwed up Anita Blake now, but they used to be damn good books and she knows how to do a vampire/human love story. But, none of them are as good as Poppy Z. Brite. I hate SMeyer.

I hate to say this, but SMeyer is not the worst writer in the world. Her books are completely vapid, but that's not always a bad thing. She's mediocre at best, and I dislike the Twilight books well enough, but I honestly can't say that she's the worst writer I've ever read..

The issue I have with her, as well as Laurell K Hamilton, is they are raping a genre that I used to adore. Ever since the Anita Blake series started (or at least, this is about when I noticed the trend), the whole 'urban fantasy' genre has become code for 'women who have sex with vampires' and truly great urban fantasy authors like Neil Gaiman and China Mieville are having their genre taken over by the angsty Urban Fantasy Butt Parade. Urban fantasy is supposed to have more to do with magical realism than vampires and plucky heroines with shitty attitudes.

Regarding what you said about Meyer being a horrible writer... well, Anne Rice is just at the other end of the spectrum, for me. Meyer is a drab, boring writer who doesn't ever get to the point where the reader feels truly engaged in the story.But Anne Rice is way too loquacious, to the point where the reader gets bored. It doesn't help that she really is batshit insane and thinks she's the best thing God ever gave to vampire novels.

Hamilton and Rice are more similar than you'd like to admit, I think. Not in their writing styles, but in the way they view their works. I have next to no respect for Anne Rice as an author because of the inflated sense of worth she gives to her work. And I have read some interviews and blogs written by Hamilton that smack of the early stages of the same 'head-gets-any-bigger-they-could-put-it-in-a-parade-I'm-the-only-one-who-can-write-about-vampires-properly-dammit' syndrome Anne Rice suffers from.

So, yeah. Those're my two cents. I'm shutting up now. =/
