It's not that it's impossible. It requires paying more attention and it's not really worth it for mediocre genre shows that I mostly want to watch as background noise.

But... He does need to be nice. The product he's selling is himself an people are rude to him in large part because he acts like an ass.

If you have time for a bit of a read, here's the tea:

...is there a reason why they wouldn't, if they believe it'll make them money? I mean they're not doing it for the sake of diversity.

I love a story with a happy ending

The people he meets are mostly ridiculously rude to him before he even said a single word to them, not the other way around.
Also, the product he sells is bashing things with his sword, not make high class conversation, entertaining people or be some sort of cuddly teddybear. I wouldn't really expect a mercenary to be the nicest and most charming person on the block, because that's not what he's getting paid for (which he doesn't, more often than not).

A lot of kids would be very scared at the idea that their toys can potentially kill them. Be kind to yourself as a kid.

Your favorite non-English speaking shows on Netflix...

Babylon Berlin.

I can't think of any others that are very worthwhile but I might be forgetting something. Babylon Berlin rules though.

I have a cousin who used to scream his head off or run away at the mere mention of the word "Chucky". If he sees an image of the doll he becomes inconsolable for quite some time. He's otherwise a fairly normal behaving kid, so you weren't the only kid that was extra terrified of this movie.

To make matters worse both his parents thought it was funny so they would either repeat the name Chucky or ask him if he watches the movie 'jokingly', so his fear lasted unnecessarily long from the encouraged behavior.

What Song/s Would You Have On the Soundtrack to Your Life?

(Anonymous) 2020-05-20 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
1) Body - Mother Mother
2) Standing in the Rain - Billy Talent
3) Misery Loves Company - Emilie Autumn

But that's part of it, a lot of the world has been trained because of various reasons to read subtitles since they were a kid. A lot of skills are much easier to learn organically than to force yourself to obtain them. And whether something is annoying is a personal opinion, even if it's because of a lack of skill you have. A person who can't drive can still find their inability to get somewhere annoying.

Toy Boy, La Casa de Las Flores, and Club de Cuervos. I love that Netflix has Spanish shows so I can practice my Spanish, and those three in particular stand out.

As a kid I was terrified of a scary looking face in an old black and white movie. It is even revealed in the movie itself that it is just a mask used by someone to scare people and the movie is a comedic detective story and not scary at all. But that face haunted my dreams when I was a kid.

I found it:

Wait, what are the specific parameters you envision for this?

(Anonymous) 2020-05-20 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
NA

Most of the world have been watching subtitled american movies their entire lives - You don't find that annoying?

I, myself, get way too caught up in reading the subtitles to actually pay attention to the visuals, which is pretty important to a viewing experience.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-20 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
there are very few people with eye color SO striking that it needs to be described at all.

I generally don't like when a character is first introduced and we get a description of their eye color. It tends to feel prosaic and unnecessary to me. Like you said, how often do we actually consciously think about people's eye color when we meet them?

OTOH, if the characters are in love with each other (or even in lust with each other), then I think it feels very appropriate that they are constantly noticing and thinking about details about each other. When you're in love with someone, all those little details suddenly seem meaningful.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-20 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, like
I don't mind pushing a pre-existing height difference, especially because posture can make a big difference in whether one character might appear to loom/tower over another for Sexy Height Difference reasons. And a couple inches isn't a big deal if it's already a taller character. But I'm with OP on reversing them. Like, just be into a short top/tall bottom if you know you like the characters to be one way for the dynamic but the height difference goes the 'wrong way'?? I don't get the big deal with the penetrating partner HAVING to be taller every time.

Sometimes it works out that way, sometimes it doesn't.

When I was three, I was scared of The Count from Sesame Street. When I was seven, certain episodes of The X-Files terrified me. When I was thirteen House On Haunted Hill terrified me. None of those things scare me anymore.

I think it's extremely normal to be easily frightened as a child.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-20 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Not quite terrified, but the Unsolved Mysteries theme punched my “get ready to fight-or-flight” button pretty hard as a kid, even though I watched the show itself. But I was just ready for something to happen whenever the theme kicked in until the host showed up.

AYRT - Yup, I agree. I shipped Johnlock for a long time, and vastly preferred bottom!Sherlock, but I never tried to make John taller than Sherlock (god that would've been ridiculous if I'd tried).
