147. I have heard the complaint about her being a Mormon once and that was only because they were refuting the idea that there would be a sex scene in Breaking Dawn (which is stupid, anyway. Isn't it a kids' book?). Other than that, I don't think it anything to do with the quality of the books. It's certainly not what I think of.

It was always the intent that it was supposed to end up being about the characters, not about the satire. Dino said this back from the end of season one, when The Best Christmas Ever aired. Don't tell me that it wasn't depressing, because it was, and it really wasn't satire, either. It was a portrait of a family that started falling apart, and every episode since Nature simply reveals how and why this is happening.

IMO the first season blew chunks up until that episode, where Dino started treating the characters like real people and making humor and plot based on their attributes. Flat flat flat heard it before yawner. Season two was pretty good, but this season has really been something. Sure, it's depressing as hell, but these characters are incredibly real (not to mention relatable) and the humor *is* still there, if you look for it. The detail in that show is astounding. There are still funny things like the mugs in Reverend Putty's office or pictures on the wall.

Oh, and Nesting had a lot of wtf lulz but they were very...wtf.

147. I will tell you right now, secret poster, that I don't care what a person's religion is when I pick up their book to read. I care about the story. And the reasons why I'm hesitant to even try reading Meyer's work have nothing to do with the fact that she's Mormon.

I honestly don't think that some people know how to conduct a progressive dialouge for their causes, and therefore start attacking another group in an attempt to fight back. It's human nature, sadly. And I don't think you want people who are so narrow-minded that they see all Mormons in the same light as your readers. It's sterotyping, and that's bad, no matter who you do it to.

So please keep writing! Don't give up!

One of my favorite writers online is Mormon, and also socially progressive. It'd break my heart if they ever stopped writing out of this fear.

Smeyer's weak writing would be just as weak if she were Jewish, Protestant, or Catholic.

Just don't write stupid stories like that and you'll be fine.

169. Maybe it's just me, but I certainly wouldn't remain friends with someone who dissed my likes and interests the way yours apparently does. It's rude, disrespectful, and certainly not what any real friend would do. Have you actually told your friend about this? It could be that they're the exceptionally oblivious sort and don't realize they're acting like that. Or if they do realize it and don't give a crap, then honestly I'd say to heck with them.
