I know we're all in a sea of trouble generally speaking, but... my Orchid is spiking again, and I'm super happy about this tiny thing :)

we're back to our regular 4 day weeks instead of 5. Baffling how you get used to a day off during the week.

Baked some chicken thighs with crispy skin and they were juicy (clear, fully cooked) on the inside.

I will attempt baked wings at some point in the future.

i only recently realised that my hissy-scared-semi-feral pair of kitties i got 6 years ago, has improved so much in these years. I can pet them, brush them (occasionally!) and they purr i get blinks, meows, and asked for treats. They'll never be lap kitties but i am in awe at how far they've come. All the patience i had with them paid off.

I wish I knew anything about orchids; I have one I've kept alive for a couple years, but I managed to kill a vanilla cutting.

I'm happy I got some stuff done: I cleaned the chicken coop and put down 120 pounds of pine pellets as flooring; I have to get another 200 lbs or so, but it smells nice without being overwhelming and the chickens aren't eating them, which I was worried about. I broke down all the shipping boxes and am gonna use them under raised beds. Next week is my birthday, and I'm hoping I can get a trip to the hardware store for boards to make them; they'll deliver lots of stuff, but not boards for some reason.

I also cleaned the fridge and moved the outside compost bin to make it more accessible. I'm putting off doing my taxes and it's amazing how much more productive I am when I'm procrastinating, heh.

And I ordered a bunch of fat quarters off Spoonflower to make masks, since it looks like we'll be wearing them for at least another year. They have some really cool prints; I bought a bunch of dragon ones and a couple nsfw ones (flying penises like the Roman good luck charm, climbing roses with hands flipping the bird.) If I really like the quality, I'm gonna buy more fabric and make some matching skirts, since I normally shop second hand and am not super comfortable doing so right now at the ones that are even open.

Also I have a book by one of my favorite authors on preorder and I'm excited.

Did a zoom call with my parents for the first time yesterday. It was the first time I'd seen their faves since Christmas and the first time I'd done a video call with someone who wasn't a co-worker or client. We live in different cities and don't see each other a whole lot anyway, but it made me realize that as much as I'm an introvert and homebody, I've missed social interaction more than I thought!

My cat was completely adorable today. She was full of energy, running around the house like a wild thing, climbing up every surface she could. She made me smile, and I feel like I haven't smiled much lately so it was nice.

We had a delicious stir fry and rice for dinner tonight. That's what I requested for my birthday dinner, and it was exactly what I'd been craving.

I'm debating writing one for my new small, obscure fandom, and feel completely in over my head. I'm shipping the pairing hard, and I've seen a few other people online mention shipping it, too, but I don't even know how to go about it.

They're not biologically related, but became foster siblings as teenagers, as adults consider themselves siblings, and are both super close with the parents (who are the biological parents of one of them). And on one hand, it's like, they're not biologically related, it's not a big deal, but they're still family, and the amount of messiness/complication/drama there would be if the rest of the family were to find out about a secret relationship between these two gives me a headache. Not to mention that one of them has a kid, and the idea of them finding out about it kind of weirds me out, yet the idea of keeping it a secret forever doesn't quite work for me, either. And oh, yeah, not to mention the kid's dead other parent was another foster sibling (and the biological sibling of the other half of the ship).

So I don't even know what I'm asking for, to be completely honest. Part of me thinks however I handle it, it will suck and I shouldn't even bother but then I think that fandom is supposed to be fun, and who cares? I guess just any advice anyone who's written anything similar can throw out? I don't know.

It's still here.

I hate everything. I want to die. My parents are dead. Some friends are dead. Some are badly hurt. Liberals don't actually care about anything they say they care about. They read their books and jerk themselves off on twitter but abandon people in real life. There's no escaping from the man, because even the people who say they're against the man are actually with the man, or at least trying to become the man.

I am filled with grief, anger, and hate, and sometimes I can't keep it in, and I think really awful, terrible things that make me think that I'm no different. Given a slightly altered set of circumstances I would be one of them, I would be complicit. The fact that I'm not is almost an accident, and isn't that a bitch and a half? How dare I even be mad, how dare I even hate, when this is all just human bullshit? None of them can help it, can they? And yet I can't stand their smug shit, their grandstanding, sitting there white and straight and middle class, hiding behind a computer, throwing out fist emojis but never. Ever. Ever bothering to step foot out into the streets, or walk door to door. She deserved better than them.

Anyway, like I said, I feel like I should just die. What is even the point? It's all just pain and nothing ever changes, nothing ever will change, because the powerful know how to keep us all from getting one over on them. And even if they didn't, everyone else wants to be powerful, too, so an overthrow only presages the start of a new cycle. More of the same. Pain and torture over and over and over again.
