Re: Controversial Unpopular Opinions?

I really don't give a shit if someone has written or drawn underage smut. I just don't. Zero real children are harmed!

Re: Controversial Unpopular Opinions?

(Anonymous) 2020-09-19 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, yes, technically that's true that no real children are harmed, but if someone's into that kind of thing, it makes me wonder about what they're doing in real life. I see "just because they're sexually interested in children in fiction doesn't mean they are in reality" ALL THE TIME, and that just makes no logical sense to me. People who are disgusted by sexualizing children (as all people should be, in my opinion) are not going to intentionally seek out things with children in sexual situations, let alone create those things themselves.

Most underage fics feature cartoon characters - and most cartoon characters look not like children, but space aliens with their big eyes and wacky body porportions.

So, yeah. That's my argument. If anything, people are sexualizing space aliens.

I read underage smut because I like size difference, and 99% of the time the child characters don't read even very vaguely like real children.
On the odd occasion they do read as children, I have a Bad Day, but like, that's not really something I can filter by.

Re: Controversial Unpopular Opinions?

(Anonymous) 2020-09-19 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
There are plenty of adult pairings who have size differences, though? I don't really feel like this is a valid argument.

Such as? Name me one pairing (a moderately popular pairing where I can find fic) between adults where there is over a foot difference between their heights. Please. I'm being honest, I would really like to know.

DA

I'd like to know too because the only ships I could think of involving pronounced size difference (that didn't involve monsters and was strictly related to humans) was Game of Thrones related.

Re: Controversial Unpopular Opinions?

(Anonymous) 2020-09-19 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. Yeah, not that much of a difference, I was thinking of less...drastic size differences.

Not over a foot, granted, but man, shout out to the hotness that was the Mulder/Scully height difference.

I'm not disagreeing with you, though, you're entirely right. Massive height differences are hard to come by.

Miles and Ekaterin Vorkosigan. Gomez and Morticia Addams. Lots of my ships, but idk if they count because I'm into Beauty and the Beast and monsterfucking stuff.

that kink is a great reason to get into One Piece. Genuine adults with several feet in height difference. 15 foot tall 40 year olds easily shippable with adults anywhere from 6 feet to 12. You wanna go real nuts you can ship 30 foot Kaidou with anyone you want. He'd wreck 95% of the other characters and have fun doing it.

SA - actually, I just remembered some I like: Doomfist or Reinhardt with Zenyatta or Lucio.

Re: Controversial Unpopular Opinions?

At least a foot difference:
Jane Foster/Thor (MCU)
Eric Northman/Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood)
Ichabod Crane/Abbie Mills (Sleepy Hollow)
Various pairings (Tolkien)

Almost a foot:
Logan/Rogue (X-Men)

Over half a foot
Gabriel/Sam Winchester (Supernatural)
Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams (Hawaii Five-0)

Here's the thing, though: fictional characters, including teens, are literally designed to be attractive. Real teens are not. Like, how is it a bad thing to see a thing that has been designed as attractive as attractive?

And as another example, I find incest extremely hot in fiction, and I am repulsed by it in real life. Taboo is hot to explore in fiction. Not in real life. It genuinely is that simple! These things exist simultaneously with no conflict.

I used to be an anti about underage stuff. (I didn’t engage in anti behavior, but I agreed with anti’s about it being disgusting and fucked up.) I’ve mostly changed my mind over the years.

Like…if someone is specifically aroused by the idea of themselves fucking an underage character, and they draw fanart and write fanfic of underage characters being sexually assaulted because they get off on the thought of being the one doing the assaulting…then okay, yeah, that seems…potentially worrying. Like, they might have an actual, personal paraphilia there, and the concern is that at some point it could transfer to their real life interactions. (Even in this scenario, we're still talking about mights, not sure things, mind you.)

But most of the time, what people are kinking on when they’re kinking on underage fanfic is not nearly that clear cut, IMO.

Re: Controversial Unpopular Opinions?

(Anonymous) 2020-09-19 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I get when it's ambiguous like another commenter mentioned, where it seems like they're sexualizing aliens more than children, but when it's very clearly CHILDREN in a sexual situation, and they're turned on by that, then...yeah, I feel like they have some issues.

The whole concept of "I like child porn but I'm not ACTUALLY sexually interested in children" is just so fucking ridiculous to me.

Re: Controversial Unpopular Opinions?

(Anonymous) 2020-09-19 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT - I think we're disagreeing more than we're agreeing here, tbh. My point is, regardless of whether it's animated or live action or what, you have no idea what the person is actually kinking on.

Fictional underage specifically is a tricky one, because the taboo is so intense that in some cases, the intensity of the taboo itself may be what the kink is for some people. Not the nature of the taboo, but just that fact that it is taboo, and that it is very, very taboo.

Also, I think sexual naivety is a pretty huge kink/kink cluster for a lot of people, and often I suspect that's what people are kinking on with fictional underage. Not the idea of being with a sexually naive partner, but just the idea of sexual naivety itself.

And of course there's plenty of people who straight up imagine themselves in the role of the underage character.

"I like child porn but I'm not ACTUALLY sexually interested in children" is just so fucking ridiculous to me.

1. Nobody is talking about child porn. People are talking about fictional representations of underage characters. If you won't recognize the validity of that distinction, we can't have this conversation.

2. As stated above, just because a piece of fanfic or fanart involves an underage character, doesn't mean the appeal, for the creator or the audience, is the thought of them engaging sexually with the underage character.

Once more for the people in the back: "What we kink on when we kink on [thing]" is a more complex question than we often give it credit for.

I do not touch LITERAL child characters in smut, but I'll be down for ages thirteen and up, given the right circumstances. I sure as hell had a sex drive at that age, and fantasized about people my age, and sometimes with adults. I don't think I was a particular outlier for this. Do I condone people fucking middle schoolers IRL? Jesus Christ, no. Do I find it hot in fiction? Yeah, sometimes.

A 13 year old IS a LITERAL child. Jesus, what the fuck.

A thirteen year old is a teenager, and a good number of them are biologically capable of having children. Ye gods.

anon, this makes about as much sense as being suspicious of furries who draw nsfw.

they don't want to fuck real animals, and fans of underage shit don't want to hurt real kids.

i know this because i like lolishota. i'm not attracted to real kids. i think csa is unspeakably evil.

fiction is fiction.

Re: Controversial Unpopular Opinions?

i know this because i like lolishota. i'm not attracted to real kids.

Why though? What makes you interested in fiction about something you have zero interest in in reality?

Re: Controversial Unpopular Opinions?

(Anonymous) 2020-09-20 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
da but I like fiction about a lot of things I'm not interested in in reality because it's fiction. I love murder mysteries because no one is actually getting hurt or killed, for instance. There are a lot of kinks that I have zero interest in trying in real life, but I like reading about them because I find them hot when they don't involve me. I'm not interested in participating in BDSM myself but I sure do enjoy reading about my favorite characters doing it. It doesn't involve me and it isn't real, so I can enjoy reading fiction about it because there's that degree of separation there.

Re: Controversial Unpopular Opinions?

(Anonymous) 2020-09-19 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. And it's lame and arguably creepy when people attempt to 'protect' fictional characters too.
