So far, so good - no hangover, and I with only a very little trouble managed my goal of a 7am wake-up, and I got my workout and music practicing in, so... here's hoping to a better sleep schedule for this year, to go with the regular habits I drummed into myself to keep from going lockdown insane this past one.

I'm finishing my third listen of an early 2000s emo album. Thought I just had terrible taste as a teenager, but turns out I still enjoy listening to it.

Started off with a raging headache that won't go away. I've gotten nothing productive done today. Mostly I've been watching youtube vids, chatting on and off with family, laying in bed with a heating pad, and that's about it.

Very lazy so far. I woke up early this morning and went to the bathroom...then got back in bed and brought my puppy with me. We dozed off and on for another hour or so then I got up and made her breakfast and goofed around online awhile. My husband brought me some Starbucks for breakfast (egg white spinach feta wrap) and I watched some MST3K movies. I made lunch and worked out, and after the workout I had a nice long soak in the tub with some new bath salts I got for Christmas (they were nice, coconut and shea butter). Right now I'm watching football and plan on doing that for the rest of the afternoon. My husband is making tacos for dinner tonight, yay!

Finished editing and posting the fic I meant to get up before the end of the year...

Other than that, whole lot of nothing. Mostly the same as any other day with chronic illness. Mostly lying in bed trying to do stuff through pain, though Animal Crossing was nice to me earlier - visitor at my campsite agreed to move in the first time I asked, without games of chance, and they kicked out one of the animals I was okay with saying goodbye to. Ventured out briefly to spin pokestops and didn't get far because of stupid health, but there was an ice storm, and I like ice storms because there I was out in a park with my phone with built-in camera and everything was encased in crystal. <3 Wish I'd been able to stay out longer in it.

Though now I have post-fic-posting depression again. Really hope I can come up with more inspiration for more stuff to write about my boys very soon, even if I'm kind of worried about annoying people in my fandom.

Stayed up until past 3 watching YouTube vids, and then was up and at'em at around...8 am, wth, body.

We also got more rain/ice/snow today, which then melted, which then came back and supposed to get more late tonight when the temps plummet. Yay!

I got chocolate and cheese and lots of juice, I'm not goin' anywhere.

Reading a fic right now (based off a media) that (APPARENTLY) takes place in my county/city and I find that fucking hilarious, especially when certain neighborhoods are mentioned (even mine!!!). It's way bizarre and I'm weirded out, but also highly entertained by people's interpretation of my county/city.

The fic itself is actually pretty good.

Wellness. eurgh. what the hell happened to health? also it makes me think of people who think crystals can cure stuff
Playdate makes me want to throw right up, although I don't have kids and therefore don't have to deal with it much.
Lifestyle. I don't have a lifestyle, I have a life, plus I associate it with either homophobes or someone who is trying to sell you something you don't really want or need.
Eccentric. It tends to be used to excuse fucked up crazy behavior in very rich people (e.g. Howard Hughes, Michael Jackson)

Anglicisms in the meaning of awkward turns of phrase and use of stilted vocabulary because you're so used to reading things on the internet that you forgot that actually we have a perfectly fine word for this when we don't speak English. No, you illiterate twat, we don't ~sleep over~, we overnight, and we have "feelings", not ~emotions~.

'Feels' as a noun. I don't understand why 'feelings' had to be shortened and it just sounds so stupid and infantile in a sentence.

I also have a strange tendency where I can't stand to use the term 'bangs' (as in hair bangs) in fictional writing but I'm perfectly fine using it in real life. For writing, I have to use 'fringe' instead.

"Belly" and "tummy". Probably because of the GI issues I've had since I was a kid, and I'd be in absolute agony and the doctors would be like "does your tummy hurt?" and even at like age 9 I'd be all "DON'T PATRONIZE ME JERKWAD, DO YOUR JOB."

And since my stomach and intestines are the cause of endless pain in my life, the idea of calling such organs by some cutesy name is like calling someone's brain tumor that is killing them their "widdle toomie".

"Creatives" for creators. I ranted about it here once before. It's unnecessary and pretentious, and I especially hate when it's paired with "small," as it often is. "Support small creatives!" as in individuals who aren't employed by big studios like Disney or whatever, and this cry is usually used when people talk about wanting diversity and originality in fiction. We get told the mainstream will never give us what we want there, so we should "support small creatives" who will. Except no, I'd rather push for that stuff in the mainstream because these "small creatives" are really a dime a dozen and most of them aren't actually any good, so weeding through them all and buying their self-published whatever to find one whose work I really enjoy is time- and money-consuming.

TL;DR there's a load of snobbish culture around the word and seeing it is like nails on a chalkboard.
