hahahaha, right. The characters they were paired up with in canon (Aang and Mai) were too good for them?

Let's see: a twelve-year-old monk with a history of running away from his problems, who chooses not to save the world as he should, and instead clings possessively to a girl who he lets mother him more than anything else...

And, a two-dimensional cardboard emo chick who never finds her (admittedly exciting) life even remotely interesting, gave up a baby sibling willingly to the enemy to appease her friend -- and when she finally has the guy she's yearned for throughout her whole childhood, she doesn't listen to his problems and concerns, and instead wants him to order fruit tarts and servants around for her.

...

Riiiiight. I totally see it. Zuko and Katara were just utterly worthless compared to those two.

You watched Avatar: The Butthurt Zutarian Show instead the actual Avatar, where none of those things are true.

You're right. Aang gave Katara up and entered the Avatar State all on his own, without the help of a magic chakra rock. Damn that was some fine-ass television!!!

You're right. The only possible resolution to the show was for Aang to enter the Avatar state and kill people and kick some firelord ass, and give up Katara, despite the way that love and attachment has been presented throughout the entire series and Iroh's advice (and the metaphor of his life) on choosing love over power.

Sure, it was a bit of a dues ex machina, but it stayed themeatically consistent. Watch more carefully next time, and maybe give more weight to the words of the show's moral conscience as opposed to a 2-episode feature character.

That's deus ex machina. I've seen that single phrase being misspelled so many times it's making me batty.

I'm not saying it should have been all gory death, being a kid's show; I'm just saying they should have given a more realistic approach to the ending solution. Ozai and Azula are both threats while alive, even without sanity or bending ability.

So, you did watch bits and pieces of the show, at least. You just missed the part where Aang entered the Avatar State back in the S2 finale, and it didn't actually matter, because Azula still kicked his ass.

But I'm sure he could have prevented that by swearing off love forever!

I'm sorry you're too stupid to understand the show or why a pacifistic approach was not only the best and most meaningful one, but also one that he was advised to pursue by the older Avatars.

I would also suggest that you not use the word "emo" anymore until you learn what it means. Mai is the antithesis of a person who is overly emotional.

no, they do. Unfortunately. Its part of why I've pulled away from a bulk of the fandom communities. The level of ignorance and butthurt because "OMG!Aang stuck to his beliefs and got the girl" is astounding and very much a turn off in this fandom.

Unfortunately too these opinions seem to be far more acceptable to have than actually enjoying how the story ended.

Hey, Zuko made out good in that finale. He got to be fire lord, dad and sis out of the way, new friends and allies, a BFF in the Avatar, his uncle's love and forgiveness.

And he got a girl who sacrificed her safety for his and actually cares about him - scar, jerk behavior, and all.

Sounds to me like Zuko had it good to me and he behaved like an asshole to everyone who cared about him and consistently made messes of his life rather than fixing it for nearly 2.5 season.

But its all okay because he's Zuko and the fandom woobie.

God forbid that Aang have it good in the finale despite his actual attempt to give up Katara (in S2 - CoD), get shot in the back for it, treated like crap and made fun of by Zuko in TSR, and watch the girl who he loves give him mixed signals - (wanting to kiss him in CoTL, their hot dance in the Headband, kissing him back in DoBS).

Yup.

God forbid anyone think that maybe Aang and Mai who actually gave a shit about the people they were in love with are in fact better people than Katara and Zuko.

I've been where Zuko was. That's why I am hard on him. And that is why he frustrates me and why the fandom attitude towards him is frustrating as well.

Ah yes - you were watching Avatar: The Zutarians Don't Get These Characters At All show.

LOL - the fact that someone thinking Aang and Mai were better character is driving you into some sort of character-twisting tizzy is actually amusing.

Newsflash - some people actually do like Mai and Aang. Some people actually do like them better than Katara and Zuko. Some people think they are great characters who are more than the ridiculous nonsense you just spewed. Some people do think that Katara and Zuko are not the greatest things about the show. I realize that is hard for people like you to accept, but it is a perfectly acceptable opinion.

Aang forgave Zuko repeatedly, gave him second chances, and offered him friendship. Zuko repaid him with mocking the values that OMG! allowed Zuko to join the Gaang and in the end square things with Iroh and to become fire lord. Yup, that is class act behavior on Zuko's part.

And rather than listening to Aang or helping him, he continued to push the only route he could even imagine - the violent death of Ozai. But notice Mr. "Ozai's so dangerous he has to go" didn't off his sister when he had the chance.
