Re: Does becoming a born again Christian change

(Anonymous) 2021-04-04 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Having been raised in a pretty conservative Christian household, uh... definitely not. Everyone I knew in conservative Christianity took "born again" as entirely figurative, not literal.

Also I think if you were that conservative a Christian, astrology was considered witchcraft, if not Satanic, so it wouldn't matter. :P

How are we doing today?

Had some discounted chocolate hot cross buns earlier and that was the highlight of my day.

Life in bad shape. Had an argument with someone I love. My ill health is destroying everything. If it weren't for my responsibilities, tonight would have been the night I took an overdose.

Movies and/or shows that were your favorite as a kid, but not so much now.

I use to be obsessed with the Alf Movie and cartoon series as a kid, but they weird me out too much now.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-04 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I've got a story in my head I really want to tell. It makes me feel good to tell it. And then I can share it, and if others like it/it helps them, that makes me feel good too.

It is 100% inner motivation.

If I don't like the first iteration. That's fine. I got it out. I told the story in my head how I wanted to tell it. I can edit it to it's where I want it to be. Editing can cover a multitude of sins.

It also helps, a lot, if you finish something before you post it. Do I have a lot of WIPs. Yes. Yes. I do. Those that get finished, get posted/published. I just have too many ideas and not enough time/energy.

My Easter plans unexpectedly involved lying in a dark room clutching my head, in addition to the usual clutching of my stomach. :/

Got through virtual church service anyway, and I think the instant coffee (not even mixed into water, just a spoon full of the powder; I can't afford migraine meds so ODing on caffeine is how I self-medicate) I swallowed down started to kick in a couple hours later so I made myself go take a walk in this gorgeous sunny weather no matter how painful it was.

Saw some pretty flowers along the way and got a shiny flower crown Chansey already, so Pokemon Go is at least being nice to me.

With fic I was generally struck by inspiration enough to churn out 10-15 chapters in a short time and then I hit the wall.

So that's why I mostly stuck to one-shots eventually. I thought it wasn't fair to anyone reading my work so stopped posting WiPs if I didn't finish them.

Basically, I feel you OP. I wish I could complete an entire WiP with that same level of enthusiasm I have with the first few chapters, but I just never have.

But she's the worst character by a country mile.

Then again the series has been a pale fanfic take on itself for about five seasons now anyway. Never seen a show take such a dive in quality before. First few seasons are easily one of my favourite shows, and I won't even watch the latest season that's dropped on Netflix because of how bad the last one was.

Huh. No.

Being "Born again" is completely and utterly spiritual. It's metaphysical. Not physical.

(this is 100% why I hate Christian jargon. This along with Salvation. And "Being saved.")

Look, most conservative Christians find the zodiac, any zodiac, to be "evil" (b/c they don't understand it) and will quote the Old Testament at you about "not looking to the stars for your future." Like, the only thing that has a worse reputation with them is tarot (you have to be channeling demons to understand it, like what, no,) and sometimes DnD. (Or Harry Potter. That was funny actually.)

Was okay this morning. But a migraine started around noon. It is a pretty bad one. But we had agreed to marathon the Mandalorian today. Mom is really excited about it. So dad basically pressured me to stay around because mom hasn't been feeling that well recently. All I really want is sleep. And dad is doing work and keeps procrastinating, so we're watching judge Judy instead, and her voice is so grating right now, I just want to throw things at the screen.

Sorry. Just. How is it not obvious that I'm having one of the bad migraines with the mood-affecting and other side effects and really want to be alone? I'm not doing a great job of faking it.

Harry Potter movies to go along with the books. I still loved them into adulthood, but I got over them a number of years ago.

Touched by an Angel and 7th Heaven. What can I say. I grew up in a conservative Christian community. I grew out of them, though, even before we knew there were other reasons not to watch one of these.

Full House. Home Improvement. Saved by the Bell. Sister Sister. Family Ties. These all played on the same english language channel in the Philippines that we were allowed to watch as kids because it was supposed to be safe for kids. Lost interest when I came back to the US and had more options of what to watch.

I'm literally watching those right now for the first time! I find both Alex and Peter to be so attractive so I'm here for it

New Anime Season Starting Monday

[personal profile] ill_omened 2021-04-04 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
What we all watching?

Most interesting three for me:

86 - Love military shit and recall the LN getting lots of hype back in the day.
Megalo Box Season 2 - Original was easily the sleeper hit of the season and a refreshing more adult anime in stylings that feels pretty rare these days.
Pretty Boy Detectives Club - Shaft.

Probably pick a couple on top of that based on hype.

It's totally unclear whether OP was

(Anonymous) 2021-04-04 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, that doesn't seem like the kind of a show where a character would die and come back.

Is this loss

And now, Lil Nas X.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-04 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It isn't. Gina didn't die, she was written off and made one reappearance following. I have no idea who the secret is referring to.
