I got into a new pairing and now my Marked For Later list is up to two pages. I had slowly been going through the list. But now it is getting long again.

People who have social media accounts for their pets and type up entries in phonetic baby talk pretending that their pets are telling the story.

Apparently enough people find it endearing, though, that those kinds of posts have taken over a bunny group I used to enjoy. So I guess there's a market for it, and I mean... people are gonna like what they like. But personally now I just cringe and enjoy the pictures and do not even attempt to read the wall of nonsense.

Eeeew yeah, so annoying!
I have an insta account for my cat but I will never pretend it's him writing cause eh.

That my favorite iced coffee beverage (and one of the only ones I still like after losing 90% of my sweet tooth) has like 500 calories in a large.

I would like to drink about two larges worth of it every single day during the summer, but wow no. Even drinking about four a week like I do is so unhealthy. I haven't gained any weight from it, because I'm a lucky bitch with skinny genetics or something, idek. But it's still so bad for me and I know it.

Look at it this way: calories are what your body runs on. A 'calorie' is just a unit of energy, and if you aren't gaining weight, that probably means that your body is finding something to do with that energy. Without calories, your body can't circulate blood, regulate your hormones, grow new cells to replace the dead ones, or even breathe.
Fear not the calorie!

(oh, and if you see anything suggesting you need less than 2,000 calories a day, ignore it. Just because you can survive something doesn't mean it's a good idea!)

Oh, I know this cycle well. I’m back up to almost 50 pages at the moment, which is a personal record

I'd really like to play FFXIV but my internet connection is too slow. This is a stupid thing to be annoyed over because I have over 50 other games in my backlog that I should play before even thinking of purchasing another one.

I was thinking of that game, but the monthly subscription thing keeps turning me off from it.

Here is a question I have to answer for a (very bullshit) assignment:
Describe the skills, attributes and work ethic required to work in the hospitality industry
And then it's got enough space for about four lines of handwriting, if I'm careful. Just... what the fuck sort of a question is that? As far as I'm concerned, what you need to work in hospitality is 'needing money' and maybe 'thick skin'. That's about it! I'll probably write some bullshit about teamwork and initiative and a fucking go-getter attitude, but hell. I can't believe someone got paid to write this shit.

I try really hard to not care about when other people like things I don't, but for some reason it drives me absolutely insane when there's a popular fic in a large fandom that's really bad? I don't just mean it has a ship I don't like, but it's got bad grammar and spelling, bad characterisation, bad pacing, just bad everything! I get so fixated on being mad about it, and trying to work out what the hell anyone is actually reading it FOR.
I saw one the other day for 'The Untamed' where most of the canon characters were turned into dickheads, the protagonist was a defenseless woobie, and after over a decade of being abused his 'super awesome totes protective' friends from the crossover fandoms turned up and brutally murdered everyone. Starting with a bunch of bunny rabbits. I'm not making that up. And that was supposed to be a happy ending? Like, what the fuck?

Honestly is it bad if that plot description feels like a huge old school fandom throwback to me? I feel like, I saw so many fics with that general vibe back in the day, it's almost nostalgic

I so get the irrational anger at stuff like this. There's an author in my current fave rare ship who has terrible style (ESL and has the same native language I do so her weird sentence structure is especially grating to me), terribly dumb half-AU plots and the characters are fully unrecognisable with how OOC they are. And she still gets plenty of comments and it baffles me.

People who think it's cute to have their voicemail message consist entirely of their baby who can't talk yet.

Getting an awesome idea and enough steam to get a fic going, and pretty far... only to have plot holes and logical shit jump out at you short of completing the first draft... and you're almost 20,000 words in.

I feel like I am never going to finish my stories and it sucks.

when I wanna write a thing but I can't figure out how to describe the thing... like, in a fantasy setting, how do I talk about what's basically the Underground Railroad? they don't have railroads! I could do a heap of research into the early history of trains and find out where all the terms come from so I could make my own equivalents... but christ what a drag.

Oh hey, I just experienced another.

Thought I'd go back over another of my old fics and edit/revamp it a bit, so I opened up the text file in Notepad and got through a page or two... then nudged a hotkey or something and the font changed.

I could not figure out what the old font was, so I googled and tried the various fonts that allegedly were default for Notepad. None of them were what I had been using previously, and all of them were different enough to be distracting..

FINALLY found the old font, to my relief... but it took so long that I am now thoroughly out of that story and can't seem to find my momentum again. -_- (So uh, here I am complaining about it on the internet.)

When people sneeze too loud or walk too heavy. Both things naturally out of a person's control (well sort of, I've trained myself to sneeze quietly/swallow my sneeze, which isn't healthy -- but I dislike the ruckus it makes) but they annoy me!

Lotsa fanfic stuff in this thread. Here's another. I started a fic that seemed good and was nice and long, and it had a secondary ship in it that I happen to ship also. That was a good thing until one of the characters in the main ship said of the two b-couple characters that he was happy for them getting together because they were terrible people who deserve each other. That annoyed me and it's stupid that it annoyed me because I don't think it would be OOC of the character to feel that way, but I don't think it would definitely be IC either and I read it as the writer's opinion through the mouthpiece of the character. I can't read a whole fic knowing the author has such a different idea than I do about one of my ships even though they've been actually writing the ship decently.
