Hard to ignore something that doesn't exist, love. He doesn't love her. He was attracted to her, yeah, along with nearly every other male in the cast, and Lizzy with all her hopped-up, missed-my-wedding-night-umf-umf-umf hormones might have momentarily lost her good sense and thought she wanted Jack, but the idea that she'd be anything more than a good roll in the sheets for him is a laugh.

Look at the angry women in Jack's wake if you want any farther proof of that fact. It's been said. Jack loves his ship, his rum, and himself, and that's pretty much as far as that goes. Not to say he can't care about other people, occasionally, but if you're going to try and stretch that all the way over into 'omg he totally loves her' territory, well...that's all it is. A stretch. Wishful thinking.

Not to say you couldn't find meaningful moments and subtext if you wanted to, but don't kid yourself. It was never going to happen, and if you were honestly paying attention in the first movie, you'd know it.

Go enjoy some hot Jack/Liz fic and get over it, already.

I was so relieved in Serenity when their relationship was just hinted at rather than made explicit.

I never much cared for that pairing, but I think most of that is because I think Inara was miscast. I just never embraced the character like I felt like I should.

142. Eh, you can see it that way. Same can be said for South Park. Honestly, having seen and read several interviews with Seth, he definitely doesn't come off as a misogynist. He seems to have a lot of respect for women As well as homosexuals, I know there are a lot of jokes about gay people in the show too. He's a well educated guy. And believe me, I hated him because he was getting so much money and for the fact that South Park revealed the Family Guy formula. But now I respect him even more. I guess because people are jumping off the bandwagon.

Controversy is the only way to expose flaws in society. Let's face it, it's the only way people will listen. It's a shame he's got so much fluff in there though and the wrong message is getting decoded from people. It's definitely a satire in between all the "Remember the time..." moments.

I feel like Lois is a strong female character though. She just proves that behind every idiot man there's a strong smart woman. Yeah sure, she's done some stupid things but so have a lot of us. And I think Meg is just going through an awkward stage. I'm sure she'll grow out of it. I know plenty of feminists that like the show.

But hey, to each his own. The world don't move to the beat of just one drum. I have several shows that I think have corrupt views of women and most of them little girls end up watching. I think it's even worse that we're pushing those off as OK.

132. Freaking WORD. I'm jealous of them too. Ever since s2 it feels like he should be the main character, because he's the only one actually having a development. Too bad Tieria is my least favourite meister, and I can't really help that. I wish to fangirl him more, but duh, doesn't work.

Sure Setsuna got some too, obviously, but it's mostly off-screen (bam, 4 years, and we see how s1 changed him into s2). Allelujah? Uuuh, he was in series for first 11 eps of s1 and for 8 in s2, later he was always being turned into a wallpaper in the background. Which I consider a shame, because character with multiple personality disorder gives interesting possibilities. Lockon's possible development fled out of the window, courtesy of prince Ali, and s2 Lockon is more of a mirror image, in which creators points and show "tee-hee, look he's just like him...oh! no, see in this he's completely opposite!" rather than a character of his own. It kinda would make sense for me only if we were to learn at the end of the series, that Lyle=Neil who pulled out a Char Quattro, and learned to let go some things blah blah blah, but I see it highly unlikely, so yeah, he's another wallpaper for now.

Though I think that the excuse "oh Tieria is so loved by us, because he's the only one with personality and development *rabu rabu*" is kinda overdone, because if that was the case, Saiji and Louise should be big in the fandom too. Louise especially.


141. It may not be best one for me, but I still adore it. I was trying to compile known facts into a logical whole, to get a bigger picture, ever since MK2 got released - which was double hard, because my english was almost non-existent at that point :D. Too bad it kinda died, when my gamer soul left me around MK4.

149. I can kinda relate. I always have a one fandom, even if sometimes I will wander around with a secondary one. It happens, even though I watch lots of series, like and enjoy many of them, and often catch myself thinking "oh it would be so much fun if I could be a part of this fandom..". BUT I CAN'T. Monogamous fandom marriage, damn you.

And yes, the gap moment is the worst. I don't think I can help you, I know shows you mentioned, but neither is the type of series I'm getting much into and joining the fandom.

Here's the thing.

First of all, I think the point has been proven that everyone thinks your statement was more than a little ridiculous. It's not like we saw anything that could remotely be considered scandalous. What's the MOST we saw? The top of Laura's chest? An arm? A leg? Oh god, if that's what grosses you out I better go tell my grandma that shorts and tank tops are OUT this summer.

Second, this is EXACTLY what's wrong with fandom. The people who love Adama and Roslin have waited since (at the very least) season two for their obvious love for one another to be acknowledged on the show. And then people like you go and shit ALL OVER THE MOMENT. Everyone else gets to have their happy shiny ships and then when we get ours, all of a sudden people like you crawl out of the fucking woodwork. It's discouraging. The fact is, old or young, this is a ship that is, in my opinion, one of the most natural relationships I have ever seen on television. It wasn't a 'hey my name is Laura nice to meet you LET'S FRAK' relationship like so many are on t.v. It wasn't even really a moment of pure happiness. It was a moment borne our of desperation and the need to feel connected to someone because the world was literally falling apart around them.

It is also not appreciated at all that you put all of us in the category of fapping over Laura Roslin's breasts. The writers weren't looking to 'turn you on' and this has nothing to do with an 'old people fetish'. Those two statements made you look so amazingly ignorant, and I honestly can't believe anyone would think that.

You are going to be that old one day. And hopefully you'll be in a great relationship and still get to have sex in your fifties and sixties. However, you were grossed out over a 2 minute scene on television; I can't imagine how you'd get over your ageism IRL.

(And yes, my layout is of A/R and THAT scene. Because it reminds me every day that even in your darkest moments, the person you love will be there to catch you when you fall.)
