It can and should be acknowledged that racism is not the only factor in play while that still being *a* factor. I think things may just seem quieter because the topic isn't as new anymore. It's unlikely that people have realized they were wrong and racism is irrelevant, so you can stop being smug.

I just saw a Tumblr post complaining that Game of Thrones is unwatchable in dark scenes because you can’t see what’s going on. It compared Lord of the Rings, where the light “comes from the same place as the music” and you can always see what’s happening.

I may be misremembering but I don't remember Katy Perry getting flack for it either. I think even given colonialism, most people don't care about Ancient Egyptian dress because that was 2000 yrs ago.
