It's honestly really funny to me how big the gap is between LMM and everyone else in the cast. Like, it's not just that he's kinda bad, it's that he's kinda bad and everyone else is fucking incredible

Honestly even after all these years and having watched a lot of "classic" films/TV, I still catch some references in early (90s) Simpsons that I either hadn't noticed before or was too young at the time I first watched it to appreciate. Don't feel bad about it.

It can be quite fun actually. I imagine a lot of the references in the newer seasons would be lost on me because I've just lost interest in The Simpsons in general. I'm not even sure if the show even does that stuff to the same level anymore.

I've got zero talent with graphics so I just submit text secrets and hope one of our resident secret makers will pick it up. You and the other secret makers are the best.

I'm not sold on any ship for that (I do like the OT3 but it's not a make-or-break thing for me) but I did like these two together much more than I liked Sophie/Nate. And in general I like Sophie a lot more without Nate.

Eliot/the marshal kind of weirded me out too. I liked her as a character but I'm put off by anything that feels pro-cop. But I'm willing to see where it goes.

I've definitely softened on fan art. I try to reblog everything
for my interests with a comment about why I like it.

But I also don't mind if people choose to protect themselves from scrutiny while they work on new skills.

I'm all for people posting whatever art they want. But I'm just not going to be looking at it or reblogging if I don't like the style. I'm just more picky about art than fic. Honestly I don't really care much about real life art either (other than sculptures and other three-dimensional art). With fic, even a bad one will usually give me a little something. Art just is or it isn't enjoyable to me, there is no middle ground.

The second half of the season is out! I had some quibbles but I mostly liked it.

Reminded of how, after years of hearing that a particular song was incredibly problematic and thus never seeking it out, I heard Weird Al's new "original" song "Word Crimes" and thought it was very clever and I wonder where he got the idea to make a song like that.

All day been lying in bed poking at mobile games because too much pain to do anything else. Pokemon Go, Final Fantasy Record Keeper, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. Fortunately Pocket Camp just started a new gardening event and Record Keeper had some missions expiring today, so plenty to do up until like an hour ago...

I'm disassembling some larger Lego sets at the moment for a colleagues godson, and it kind of reignited my passion for brick building. (does that count?)
i pulled out my "leftover stones" box and just got building. Whole evening was gone in what felt like an hour.

I am very excited for the Animal Crossing Update. Recently i got a PS4 and started playing the witcher. I'm still a noob bc controls are so different from the switch.

Theres also a few classic board and card games i have at home.

I've discovered the artist Riell through Youtube. She's amazing. I basically love every single one of her songs, which is rare for me. She's got an amazing voice and her songs are fun.

I keep thinking I should make some to help out too, but...

1: I got some really nasty comments (like the "I hope you die" kind) on the last one I submitted, including from people who were signed in and whom I had had positive interactions with in the past, and although it was partly my own fault for phrasing things poorly in the secret (I suck at communicating AND there was context I hadn't mentioned), it was... kind of intimidating.
2: These days I'm really only in one fandom and no one else here is in it as far as I know - and since there is hardly any fandom left for it at all, there's not much to have opinions about, hahah.
3: I dunno, I've reached a point in my life where I don't give a crap about keeping secrets. I have so much more to stress about than what people think of my opinions about something like fictional characters or fannish activities. So I keep thinking of making a secret and then going "Nah, I'll just say it openly."

Lots of Diamond Digger and Candy Crush on facebook. Have a migraine, and facebook games help me ignore the pain when I have one (unless it is one of the ones where I can't look at a screen).

Yup. I've mentioned in the past that I used to run a fan art column and it was so cool seeing people submitting stuff for the first time that maybe wasn't great... but then they kept submitting stuff and you could watch it get better and better as time passed.

Also, literal "baby's" first fan art. I remember when Nintendo Power used to publish pictures of envelopes they received along with the letters column, and you'd have stuff like a Mario level covering the entire envelope, clearly drawn with crayon by someone who was maybe 6, but they got so much stuff in there and you could tell they really wanted to make it awesome.

I've never been comfortable about the mockery that fanart drawn by clearly young/inexperienced artists gets. It's so mean spirited. I can't imagine posting that online.

I can get mocking art drawn by someone who puts others down for theirs or by people who claim to be experts or are arrogant about their drawing skill

But making fun of young/new artists? That's just bullying.

Thank you for making secrets, OP. I think some of the problem is that a lot of FS regulars, self included, are fans of such disparate stuff in small/obscure/dying fandoms that there's not enough of us who are into any one thing to really blow up the comments, so the only threads that get a ton of replies and engagement are started by bigots, trolls, or plain old assholes.

The solution isn't more controversy for its own sake, but idk. I'm grateful to secret makers, whether they're making their own or other's secrets.

I try to think of secret ideas about everything I read or watch, but sometimes I just think "eh, whatever," about something, and unless that something is either beloved or hated on FS, posting that it was just okay isn't much of a secret.
