What is it about some people's need to be mean to kind people?

Misery loves company. Sometimes when you are in a bad place yourself seeing someone else happy is worst possible thing you can see, because how can others be happy when you are struggling so hard and feel bereft of hope yourself, and there is no way you can lift yourself out of the pit you are in, but at least you can stop being reminded by happy people that happiness and hope exists. Misery loves company.

I'm not saying it is right, but I'm also not saying that it is even deliberate a lot of the time. It is just an instinctual response at times.

Insecurity and/or ignorance, mostly, I've found.

Inherent nastiness.

No such thing. Just hurt people saying things they'd regret if they ever got into a healthier headspace. Even you.

I was taking a bath earlier and have no idea why this memory popped up, but it made me smile.

I've always been an awkward introvert and didn't have friends, but what I had was an extrovert brother with friends who didn't mind having me around, and so that was pretty much my social circle in my late teens. I was usually the oldest around, so sometimes I was the one driving a carload of teenage guys around on weekend nights doing harmless ridiculous stuff.

So one night I was dropping everyone off, and I think my brother must have been dropped off early while I took everyone else home. Last guy in the car with me as we drove back from dropping one friend off out in the boonies was this 6'5" dude, huge wrestling fan, known for doing a dead-on impression of the lead singer of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Which was one of the bands we usually had on in the car at that point, or Smashing Pumpkins, or They Might Be Giants.

I don't know what we had on that night when it was just he and I, but while we were driving along listening in silence to whatever, suddenly he goes "Hey actually, can I put on my favorite radio station?" And I'm like, sure, cool, whatever.

So he puts on this station I'd never heard before - an oldies station, 50s/60s. I didn't know we even HAD an oldies station locally, the signal was kind of faint, but I was like "Dude omg!" because I'd been into the 60s music since the 80s.

...So me and this great big tall wrestler-wannabe dude just drove around in the dark for another hour or so instead of going home, singing along with like the Ronettes and Roy Orbison and the Beach Boys. And when we were with the other guys we would put on the usual stuff again. It was just our weird little secret. :D

No, Diva cups are used over and over again. I don't know if it's the *most* comfortable, but it's the one I use and it's never caused me discomfort. It think the comfort level of each menstrual cup depends on the individual user.

I think it's great we have different options now and that so many women are happy with cups but (not saying you're doing this, just in general) I hate how insistent some of them get about how cups are the only way to go and everyone should totally use them, no matter how many times you tell them it's not an option for you.

Real GHOSTBUSTERS react to GHOST HUNTING MEMES?!?!

I just finished reading a fic I commissioned and it made me smile, but it also left me wanting more and now I have the burgeoning feeling that I'm going to have to write the exact fic I want to truly truly scratch the itch inside me. I'm probygling to commission a second one because 2k words is like a drop of water in the dessert for me. I like the slow burn, the long haul, the I won't look twice unless you're at least 7 chapters and anywhere from 2-4k words per chapter (that's a lie, I'll take anything I can get lol).

Anyway, in other news, reading 5ji-kara 9ji made and I want to slap everyone in this manga lol that one chick...oooo I can't stand that bitch! If anyone has any cute/love/etc manga they'd like to rec, I'm all ears. I just finished Kamisama Kiss and it was so cute etc etc and was looking for something similar.

There are so many comedians who aren't funny, they're just loud (and SNL loves nothing more than casting them)

Every time I bond with someone I don't know in a Twitter thread and become mutuals with them, I almost always immediately regret it. Is everyone on Twitter just Like That (and by Like That I mean perpetually angry and snarky and with the need to retweet reminders about every big and small thing that sucks in the world, same subject matter a day on loop? Yes, I agree NFTs suck, but do you know how to shut the fuck up for a hot minute?)

Honestly, yeah everyone on Twitter seems to be Like That.

You can turn off retweets for people if that's the problem. I do this a lot. A lot of people cannot be trusted with retweets.
