I got kicked out of a Trek website for speculating that Tony Shaloub's character in Galaxy Quest had a Chinese name because it was a reference to Dr. Soong having been played by Brent Spiner.

Gardening groups. There are few groups of people as blind to science and change as gardeners. Our ecosystems are dying, maybe plant native species for your area and stop using insecticide everywhere? Or worse still fake grass that leaves carcinogens in the soil and kills all the life under it?

I can mostly hold my tongue and be politely informative. Now and again though my temper has gotten me banned.

When I was kid, I was on a website called Nutrinopets. I made a separate account to see how easy it would be to get banned. I posted something about "cybering bitches and hos". It worked. Got banned right away. Fortunately they weren't looking at ip addresses, or my beloved actual account would have been banned.

Not that I'm aware of, but I suspect that if I am, it's nowhere I'd know I was banned from because I wouldn't want to go back. I've probably been blocked by a handful of far-right trolls on Twitter for pointing out blatant lies or ignorance (or just being cheerfully sarcastic), but not like I've replied if they keep it up. No time or spoons for that BS.

Weird thing though, I'm part of a couple bunny groups on Facebook, and one of them is pretty chill apparently compared to most bunny groups. Which is weird because it's... often not chill.

But occasionally people don't NAME the other groups, but talk about weird stuff they've been banned for in those other groups. Like giving advice to someone who commented on their post and asked them for advice. (The example I saw was someone who has a bun with a chronic condition and I guess someone commented on their post in another group and asked how they handle something about it, and the OP told them... and OP got banned because unless you're a vet you're not allowed to give rabbit care advice or medical info in that group? wtf.)

I almost got banned from an RP for...RPing. One of the players freaked out because I shot at a character, and started telling the Mod to ban me because I was God-Modding and being OP. Some back and forth happened between me and the Mod, until I explained that it was in character and no, I was in no way overpowered. It was dropped after that, but still, what a weird session.

I got banned from an illegal anime streaming site's comment section because I criticised the character development of the female side character that went from mildly competent to very sudden LI and baby making tool for a deus ex machina baby with the MC without having ANY chemistry, nor actual relationship buildup. Apparently, the dude running the site chose her as his new favourite waifu, took my criticism personally and banned me lol

My Neopets account was banned for alleged cheating and no amount of disputes worked. I'll never get over this.

To clarify, I don't THINK I was ever cheating and they never specified what the actual cheating involved so I disputed it with everything I knew. I played a lot because I was a sick child with my own computer so my hours on the site were much more than the average player. I had a good computer because I lived with my grandparents who worked for IBM and an uncle who was constantly creating programs for new patents. I also had a much faster than average ISP because of that. As an adult, my best guess is that maybe our router was modified in some way to allow refreshes to occur faster than they should have and maybe THAT is why it seemed like I was cheating?

As a sick child who had a lot of comfort in the site, I was pretty bummed out when my account got banned. I made a second, but I never loved it as much as the first LOL.

Despite being on the internet since I was 7, I managed not to get (perma) banned from anywhere until I was 29. I posted in AITA all about this guy “I” work with and how we had this whole history together and basically I like him but he’s kind of spineless, and how there’s this other guy at work who’s completely insufferable and I hate his guts, and then my friend and the guy I hate were competing for this big promotion and I was asked to weigh in, and I actually thought the other guy would do a better job than my friend and I said so, and now my friend is pissed at me and if any of this sounds familiar it’s because I had been listening to the Hamilton soundtrack way too much that day. I have no regrets.

Just like the anon above me, I managed to not be banned in my 20+ years internet life until last year, at 33 years old, when I got banned from a subreddit because I commented about their cersoring policing in ANOTHER unaffiliated subreddit.
I was not even that harsh in that comment and I was even a member (albeit not active member) of that sub that banned me, but yeah... permabanned just because I voiced disconfort about a post in there promoting false believes and general misinformation and the mods censoring disapproving comments under that post.
I fucking hate the internet nowadays and I almost quitted reddit altogether that day. Fucking echo chambers everywhere, I swear.
I still have a reddit account and I sometimes comment on my fave subreddits, but the whole experience of being banned because I voiced a reasonable concern about censorship still makes me angsty.

Got temp banned a few times from an IRC channel for deliberately trolling. Why troll? We had some grievances about the people who ran the place, including one of them being possibly racist to one of our friends. Also we were young and very stupid.

Never been permabanned but I have been temp banned twice from Nextdoor. The last time was because someone asked why we were still changing our clocks for daylight savings time considering our state had voted to get rid of it. I mentioned that we might not have to wait much longer because the senate had just passed a measure to stop it, and I got a two week ban for talking about national politics.
