I grew up in a lightly-religious Christian community. Religion was a by rote experience, occasionally a solace, but never an oppressive force in my childhood. As such, as an adult I will often pop into a Church to contemplate things or remember loved ones or just rest my soul.

The Anglican church have now, in 2022, after some debate declared gay sex to definitely be a sin. And all the quiet faith I didn't even know I had has just died.

They revealed that Bridget is officially a trans girl in the new Guilty Gear Strive.

I, a trans person... have Thoughts about this.

On one hand, yay! More trans rep! On the other hand...

Originally Bridget was born in a set of same-sex male twins. The fictional culture in which they were born stigmatised same-sex twins as a bad omen. This means that there's a lot of pressure for infanticide. Instead, Bridget's parents raise them as a girl, to preserve their life, and to hide the truth from everybody else.

In past games, Bridget outwardly identifies as male. Strongly, even. Their whole things was that they were like "Even though I was raised this way and I've strong feminine inclinations, I'm still a boy!"

In the most recent game, Bridget says they are, indeed, a girl. But that's really uncomfortable for me. To me it feels like Bridget's gave into the gender put upon them by their parents and ended up reinforcing that one shitty idea that parents force trans identities on their kids. Then there's the whole erasing feminine cis men. Like there's no way for a cis man to be feminine without having trans inclinations.

I'm so fucking torn. It really hit me like a gut punch when I saw the scene.

The Dallas Immigration court is going to drive me up a freaking wall. Today found out that the case they've been repeatedly telling me hasn't been decided actually was decided several months back. Only for some reason they mailed the decision to San Antonio. And now I have to fill out some extra forms in order to get a copy of the decision.

I'm super frustrated that whenever I point out that I don't have irl friends, my online friends get all indignant. I don't mean I randomly go "Wow I wish I had friends", I mean in situations where it's like... I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed and they ask if I have anyone who can check on me. Or when I can't travel because I don't have any friends who could cat-sit. Or when I have no one to celebrate birthdays with.

Like, they could just assume that when I say I don't have friends, to their faces, when I tell them how much I love them and that they are my best friends all the time, that I mean I do not have an real life friends. They could just gloss over the nonspecificity and focus on the problem I'm describing, but they always have to make it about themselves instead and then my problem gets ignored so they can half-joke about being hurt.

I don't think any of them can really conceptualise how lonely I am. I don't talk to my family, I have no friends, I have literally no one to rely on. They have partners, roommates, parents, *someone* around them. And I'm not saying that means their lives are easier or whatever, but that they do not understand what it is like and it's so frustrating.

When I think about the fact that I'm meant to work 40 hours a week and then also prepare food and clean and run errands try to take care of my life at the same time, I feel extremely bitter about the fact that we still work 40 hours a week, 5 days a week, in 2022. In my case, at least 15 of those hours are spent sitting in a chair, killing my health, trying to look busy or make it through the inevitable brain fog that occurs during an 8-hour office day. Why.

And I don't even have children. I don't know how people are doing life with children. I totally understand why so many people left the work force in 2021.

I should be glad I'm not an Amazon worker or something, and I am, but god. We need to seriously look at the reality of work in the 21st century, and it does not involve 40 hours a week.
