I do not understand the alignment between "there's zero materially wrong with the Jedi philosophy" and "what you get from the first six movies is a mess." I don't understand how those are both true. Also, "half-assed Asian philosophy and mysticism" is a foundational structural pillar of Star Wars, for better or for worse. It is what it is.

I don't really follow the theological parts of Tolkien's work - does Iluvatar suck?

SUIKODEN SECRET! (I hope we get more of them, and more discussions here, after the remasters come out.)

Definitely looking forward to Eiyuden, and when the remasters were announced I and lots of folks I know were... happy but also kind of wary, because like you said, Konami. :P But I have a friend who's pretty deep in the VGM scene and knows some of the original Suikoden creative team, and they reported that some of that team was, in spite of their own current project, apparently happy (at least on social media?) about the remasters.

I'm just really pleased because I have been telling people for years "Oh if you like this game, or these kinds of themes, you should play Suikoden!" But it's never been particularly easy to get your hands on the first two if you didn't actually buy them back in the PS1 era...

Iluvatar is nonexistent. idk where OP gets the idea, maybe they're mistaking Manwe for the head god? And Manwe is honestly just...more like Zeus without all the sexual excapades. Detached, but still around and eventually when someone nags him hard enough he gets off his ass and does something.

It's hard for Iluvatar/Eru to suck when it literally has zero presence in the story except to be mentioned occasionally as Sir Not Appearing In This Film. Ironically, exactly like the emperor over the sea in Narnia!

Me too anon! Unfortunately the fandoms that I'm in don't really have prequels, but the good thing about that is that it leaves plenty of room for fan interpretations.

I loved and still love Prometheus. Gorgeous movie with great music.

Only half of it counts, but The Godfather II.

I also really liked X-Men First Class.
