SUIKODEN SECRET! (I hope we get more of them, and more discussions here, after the remasters come out.)

Definitely looking forward to Eiyuden, and when the remasters were announced I and lots of folks I know were... happy but also kind of wary, because like you said, Konami. :P But I have a friend who's pretty deep in the VGM scene and knows some of the original Suikoden creative team, and they reported that some of that team was, in spite of their own current project, apparently happy (at least on social media?) about the remasters.

I'm just really pleased because I have been telling people for years "Oh if you like this game, or these kinds of themes, you should play Suikoden!" But it's never been particularly easy to get your hands on the first two if you didn't actually buy them back in the PS1 era...

I'm glad for the remasters but I would have much preferred remakes, because no amount of being able to play these on my next-gen console is going to make up for the sprites. I just can't. I want 3D realized, voice-acted, open map games and that, we'll never get.

otoh there's chatter that if the remasters do well in the west, thus proving Konami wrong that Suikoden doesn't sell well outside Japan, then getting Suikoden 6 might be slightly more possible. I'm still not holding my breath but god that'd be great.

I don't really follow the theological parts of Tolkien's work - does Iluvatar suck?

Tolkien was a very devout catholic and there is a lot of religious symbolism in LOTR, Boromir's redemption shortly before he died for example. It's less obvious than the Narnia books but that's not saying much.

I do not understand the alignment between "there's zero materially wrong with the Jedi philosophy" and "what you get from the first six movies is a mess." I don't understand how those are both true. Also, "half-assed Asian philosophy and mysticism" is a foundational structural pillar of Star Wars, for better or for worse. It is what it is.

Me too anon! Unfortunately the fandoms that I'm in don't really have prequels, but the good thing about that is that it leaves plenty of room for fan interpretations.

The whole hate campaign and 'let's ruin amazon' before the show even screened has totally devalued every negative opinion against it as far as I'm concerned. If you go in hating it before you've seen it then you're just pushing an agenda.

So I was curious anyway and I'm enjoying it as are my friends. I think part of the problem is that no one knows what's coming because fans can't be superior about 'the book version' because they don't have a book - only a member of the Tolkien family deciding what is okay and the freedom to create their own content.

Do these haters also hate the Peter Jackson films because he made changes and didn't even include important characters?
