...I have definitely read that fic. I also cannot remember, for the life of me, what it was called too. WHAT THE FUCK.

Just wondering if you remembered if it was completed or not? I'd understand if you don't remember because this was forever ago, but I lost track of it when the site went down and lost a load of fics - but it was in the middle of still being written the last time I saw it and I'm curious if it got re-uploaded or posted somewhere.

This doesn't even sound that out there to me.

same

I mean, obviously there's a big range that "BDSM stuff" could cover, but if we assume it was limited to roughly human-possible activities due to the real word setting, then it's barely on the scale of deeply weird and fucked up shit i've read/written/cranked off to

although maybe there's something there in the frisson of 'out there' kinky trope stuff happening to what is supposedly a normal-ish guy with like. a day job and tax returns, that makes it hit the hindbrain harder because it feels more out of place and obtrusively? idk

I'm cracking up - anything could have been written in that fic and yet somehow you can tell that it wasn't 'that out there' from my shitty mspaint-made secret.

DA - I mean, the words you used were "very explicit BDSM things." If there was vore, or nonconsensual oviposition, or forced feminization and physical gender reassignment, or they put him in diapers and brainwashed him to believe he was a baby, or any number of other genuinely "out there" things, then describing that as "BDSM things" is inaccurate.

So I can see where AYRT is coming from in saying it doesn't sound that out there.

They’re just going by your description though? From what little you included, it doesn’t sound that out there. Sure, anything could be in there, but you only included “explicit BDSM stuff”, which is a common enough fetish that of course people aren’t going to think it’s that weird? The “somehow stumbled into signing a BDSM contract, and now he’s legally owned by someone” is kinda weird, but eh.

Your response was kind of strange.

I haven't read that one, but I've read something very similar in a couple of different fandoms. Though I found my stopping point when someone (a group of people???) wrote a huge series about this concept only RPF.

This was a pretty common theme in a lot of fandoms I used to be in.

please tell me Lady Heather was involved!

(Anonymous) 2022-11-01 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm 99% sure she was. She showed up in every BDSM CSI: Las Vegas fanfic I feel like, lol.

From what I remembered from the fic she wasn't - it was largely focused on what happened between Greg and the OC guy (although I'm pretty sure the version I had read back then was unfinished, so its very possible that she helped at the end of the fic when it was finished after I lost track of it on adultffnet).

You know, I was super into CSI when I was in middle school, but I don't think I ever actually read any CSI fic. I don't really know why I didn't tbh. The concept of this fic you describe is oddly hilarious to me though. I mean, I don't doubt that it was written to be dark/sexy/disturbing and it probably was, but the thought of a legally binding BDSM contract juxtaposed with the CSI-verse is really funny to me

OP

That's fair - to be honest once I had discovered that fanfiction was a thing, the first thing I did was to see how many forms of media that I had ever consumed in my life up until then had fanfiction. Then of course I would find fic title/summaries that would catch my eye and fall further down the rabbit hole.

(Anonymous) 2022-11-01 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
idk, that pretty much sums up why I severely miss and have almost come to mourn the fanfic of yesteryear.
Like, tbh, the degree of smut (severe BDSM/otherwise) is probably much more than it was back then- it's simply the lack of plots and character interpretations to establish pretty much anything that I question where its gone.

(Anonymous) 2022-11-01 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah its a novelty now where people really get into the tagging debate - not that I'm against tagging fics (if anything really grateful for it now); but the amount of fics I had read that could have had absolutely anything in that smut fic if the author didn't feel like putting anything in the notes above the fic or the limited word-count in the summary box was insane.
But yeah a lot was all smut and no plot - which was fun but yeah.

This though. So much.

Well, you know...that's what fanfic is for. Dragging all our dark little smutty secrets and fetishes into the light and dressing them up all pretty.

Thank gods! :D

Couldn't agree more!

(Anonymous) 2022-11-01 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Fandom was a lot more "out there' in terms of fic back in the day. I think 2010 was peak fandom porn for me.

no your grammar is fine! I was referencing a Mitch Hedberg joke ("I used to do drugs... I still do, but I used to, too.")
