Re: Honest-to-God work & law-related question

I don't know if they have any laws in your area related to equal opportunity or if that specific company receives any funding related to diversity, but if they do, they likely have to report numbers in those categories in aggregate. Or it could just be a company diversity policy. In order to track percentages, they use those numbers. So, those wouldn't be about you specifically. The numbers might affect their hiring or other company policies. For example, if they are losing too many women employees, maybe they start a hiring push or institute programs that might help them retain women employees. That said, I don't think you have to fill it out if you don't want to, but somebody will probably just guess at the ones you don't.

AYRT - But really, still sounds dumb as f. If they are losing too many women employees then... just make statistics based on the good old "gender" field? It's not that hard. "They want to know if there's discrimination against the LGBT+ in the workplace" well then instead of asking, if there are suspicions, isn't it better to just lecture people instead of... exposing them, if you really want to protect them? Nah fam. Not buying it.

They will guess... my sexual orientation? *eats popcorn* this gonna be gud
