I mean, I'm violently rolling my eyes at this person's DNI bullshit. With that said, this person isn't mad that shippers are mistaking their art for shippy art; they're mad that shippers are enjoying their art in a shippy way.

It's dumb that they're letting it bother them, and it's weird and egotistical that they're trying to control other people in this way when they have no authority to do so. But their assumption that a lot of A/B shippers who enjoy their A&B art are enjoying it in a shippy way is almost certainly correct. Doesn't make their response any less BS though.

It really depends on the fandom. Some fandoms have really great analysis and commentary mixed in with the shippy and cracky stuff.

Saw a post about that ship on Tumblr that weirded me the heck out. Something to the effect of

anon: hey you ship kaeluc but isn't that basically incest since they're found family?
op: ah shit i didn't realize that
commenter: don't worry! according to the wiki something something not like literal siblings something
op: oh good it's fine then, phew
another commenter: reminder of the fact that it's not incestuous and specifically because of this i'm disgusted by all the hate and harassment people are sending kaeluc shippers

Like buddy, you should be disgusted by harassment regardless of whether a given ship is or isn't "technically incest"!

When I like art I don't go "ohh yes they'll be fucking in 3 seconds .." I just go "oh. Pretty art. Nice feeling" and hit reblog.

As someone who enjoys both platonic and romantic Kaeluc works, this is how it works for me at least. Honestly I am no incest apologist, and if someone is all "I know what you are..." and asks me to not interact I will ignore that and keep doing my thing.

AYRT - Lol oh that's how it usually goes. Not problematic (because the game LOVES it and it's obviously intended as a ship) until someone else points out, and then it's Problematic. The joke here is that shipping KaeLuc is about as problematic as shipping HaruMichi because they are cousins (spoilers: they are not).

Frankly I don't do incest ships myself so I was about to skip the secret when I saw the word, but then I remembered it could be (likely is) about them and did a double take. Not liking incest ships should be okay! Liking them too, I mean, I may choose not to interact with someone who ships incest because I don't feel comfortable with that kind of content in my timeline but whatever. Cyberbullying/ganging up on people over a imagined relationship? No, that's not okay. Just don't follow if you don't like it. It's okay, I hate some "unproblematic" ships too. Thought police? Pretty fucking dumb.

I think Diana couldn’t have been as perfect as American tabloid media made her out to be in her lifetime. But I always thought she was a good person AND that Charles is a good person and they both were stuck in a shitty situation. I’ll never say a word against him for marrying Camille, I only wish Diana had the chance to live a happy life, too.

I was working as a teacher when I read that book (found a copy and remembered when my classmates were reading it.) I am not sure the author realized just what a terrible, awful, no-good, very bad teacher Mr. Griffin was. Like,damagingly bad. Unfair and cruel and apt to ruin students' attitudes toward school. And a dreadful colleague. And is "humanizing" scenes with his pregnant wife made me worry about what would happen of their kid turned out to be heedless and slapdash, or had ADHD, or something like that.

Obviously I must have been feeling especially vulnerable when I read the book, but I found that character very upsetting and I wasn't at all sorry when he was removed from the fictional universe he inhabited!

That's definitely true. But I'm thinking of social media content as much as fandom per se - it just feels like this is true all over the place, frankly. No one ever wants to dig deep and get really meaty, they just want to repeat the same obvious easy stuff over and over.

There is a character I like but he's generally considered "white bread" and "himbo", and I never really was sure I was going to be able to flesh him out plausibly in writing, until I saw a "autistic headcanon" and was like "oh ha right whatever, that's the big thing now isn't it?"

Then the more I thought about it and compared my own experience, the more sense it made, and suddenly I'm really confident in writing him and having a ton of fun. :D

Yes, it’s so frustrating! Sometimes I think I can see a glimpse of some evolution or temporal change that makes sense to me, but my knowledge is so limited and humans are so good at seeing non-existent patterns/narratives that I can’t really trust it.
