(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 03:30 am (UTC)(link)It must suck to see people not like the thing you like but secret maker isn’t wrong in feeling like fans of this pretty popular drama are overly defensive about it.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 03:55 am (UTC)(link)It's like someone pointing at a cartoon from the 80s and explaining that the animation is shit. And you say, 'Yes I know the animation is shit, but there's still a lot of things I like about it.'
And they shake you by the shoulders and say, 'But you don't understand how bad the animation is! It's really shit!'
And you say, 'Find something you like then. Go to your happy place.'
And they scream at you, 'BUT THE ANIMATION IS VERY BAD REALLY'
And you get very tired.
Someone explaining why they like a thing is not actually out to get you, okay?

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 07:27 am (UTC)(link)Well - this is a discussion forum. It is not unreasonable for people to talk about why they like a thing on a discussion forum.
If you're talking about the comment that ended with: "... isn’t wrong in feeling like fans of this pretty popular drama are overly defensive about it."
Well I don't feel that fans of this drama are overly defensive. They've honestly been pretty chill for a while now about the things that other people dislike about it. Because yes, the FL has a grating voice, and that's a reasonable thing to dislike.
And yes, she starts the story very silly. She's a flower fairy - she's supposed to be silly. No fan of the drama disagrees with that. The narrative of the drama doesn't exactly valorise it either - it throws in plenty of contrasts on how a woman can be successful and loved, and the heroine grows as a person by the end, the story is not trying to tell anyone you have to be silly to be happy.
It feels like people keep harping on about these obvious things - and it's likely a different person every time, but that does add up - as if it's some kind of Gotcha. And that does make a person tired.
It feels like people are personally offended that I find worth in something they disliked, and are twisting my words while they're at it.
Which I suppose means I *am* getting defensive. I think mostly I'm just tired.
I'm sorry I didn't express myself well. Thank you for asking me to clarify.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 08:24 am (UTC)(link)What really happens is:
Someone says: "Nah, can't watch this because of the squeaky voiced annoying female lead"
And then stans of the show jump on them and shake them by the shoulders and yell:" NO but you don't understand, it's really good, actually!!!"
And the other person goes: "That's nice but the female lead annoys me too much so that spoils it for me and I cant watch it."
And the stand go: "But it's really great, you shouldn't let the thing that annoys you stop you from watching it!!"
"Nah, I'm good, you go enjoy your show and I'll find something else."
"WHY ARE YOU HATING ON MY FAVOURITE SHOW YOU'RE SO MEAN!"
You keep seeing the personal preference by others as a personal attack because you like it.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)They're offended people like something that they don't.
Saying, "I understand why you don't like it but I happen to enjoy it," isn't saying anything but, "I happen to enjoy it."

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)Consistently, across several conversations now, it's come across as fans of the show taking it as an insult when people express mild dislike for it.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 04:49 am (UTC)(link)People get enthusiastic about the things they like. I get it. But sometimes their perspective gets a little skewed as a result, and like the secret said, someone who doesn't love what you love can feel like a personal attack when it's really not.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 05:05 am (UTC)(link)It's that the criticism is painfully obvious, and they agree with it already. Sometimes people like flawed things - it's amazing really.
And somehow, "I like it but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea" is getting transformed by OP's secret into, "Nobody can dislike my thing, ever."
Weirdly, nobody likes being lied about.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 06:14 am (UTC)(link)Fortunately, that's not what I said.
And somehow, "I like it but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea" is getting transformed by OP's secret into, "Nobody can dislike my thing, ever."
Not by me, it isn't. I'm not here to represent or take the place of other fans you might've encountered elsewhere, in other discussions, saying completely different things that I don't agree with.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 07:04 am (UTC)(link)Well, fair enough.
I admit that I'm very tired of hearing people complain that a flower fairy is a bit silly. It's, you know, it's part of the genre. Complaining about it is like opening up a danmei and complaining that the boys are kissing.
I apologise for conflating you with others.
