What are some character design decisions you think are extremely overdone, just plain bad or you skmply dislike them and if you never have to see them again it'll still be too soon?
Either in general or for specific franchises.

Specific franchise: just saw the newest version of the MLP franchise and can they please stop going further and further away from anything horse-resembling with the heads? It's never been a matter of naturalistic ponies but by now, the heads just look downright grotesque, I don't even know what it's supposed to vaguely resemble but it sure as hell ain't ponies.

General
-the edgy re-design of a character having an undercut. That hairstyle has stopped being cool and edgy over ten years ago and by now it's just lazy and tacky because that's all character designers seem to be able to do when it comes to "edgy re-design" hair

-furry races in video games where the males look fairly animalistic and the females look like slightly more hairy human women with animal ears and tails stuck on

-likewise: elves just being pointy eared humans. I love every elf design that has the elves looking more alien/non-human

The naked thigh fetish for female characters in Genshin Impact is just plain embarrassing by now

Female characters who are supposed to be physically strong and capable, athletic, warrior characters who look like the same stick-thin pretty girl as any other female characters.

This. Especially if they've got thin, but clearly very little muscle tone in the arms/legs but somehow they're hurling grown men across the room or wielding a giant weapon, etc. etc.

And even in supernatural universes, usually the male characters look plenty athletic. Why is it only female superheroes who don't need muscle?

Even most magic verses just look plain stupid with this thin woman doing all the smashing. Somehow magic warrior dudes are never pretty little things

I'm not sure if this counts, but it bothers me when characters have minimum wage or low salary jobs and yet somehow can still afford a decent to downright luxurious living situation without roommates. This has always been a Thing in Hollywood, but it sticks in my craw more these days, when people who work perfectly good office jobs still struggle to make rent in a shithole apartment.

Female characters with their boobs practically hanging out. Especially if they’re meant to be warriors. How can you fight where you’re one wrong move away from a wardrobe malfunction?

Putting boobs on anthropomorphic characters. Only mammals have mammary glands, and only primates have breasts. Stop putting breasts on reptiles!

Probably going to get yelled at for this but I have a massive uncanny valley reaction to the way almost all anime characters look. I like Shin Chan and Aggretsuko but they don't look like that at all and ATLA tones it way down to a point where I'm not bothered by it.
I've also had enough of cartoon characters who look like candy apples with arms.

I don’t know why anyone would yell at you for this? Different people have different tastes, and not everyone likes anime art styles.

And “candy apples with arms”?? I have absolutely no clue what that could be referring to, even though I watch a lot of current era cartoons.

There are a LOT of anime fans on here.

I wish the trend of skimpy armor on women in video games would just die. Yes, I'm aware a lot of players are horny so it will stay. For the record, I'm not against skimpy clothes in general (it's fine when there's a reason for it), I'm against the stupidity of exposed cleavage and legs flawlessly holding up against swords and arrowheads.

I also wish they'd tone down the jiggle physics on women fighters too.

I'm against it when it's skewed to one gender. Make them all skimpy, you cowards!

nothing made me happier than when Bayek's bathhouse towel outfit became unlocked, in AssCreed Origins. Because it wasn't just for one-off scenes, I could run him around Egypt in nothing but a towel for the rest of the game. More of that, please and thank you. It was a step beyond all the lip-service armors that were shirtless but like...ehhh there's shoulder armor and some beads and it's really only the middle of the torso while below the belt, thighs, even arms? Nah no arm porn for you, no leg porn, nothing but some abs maybe, and half the time they're covered by your weapons outside of cut scenes.

Yeah, I don't care if armor is unrealistic for how well it would protect you, as long as it's equal opportunity unrealistic.
