have you ever

Have you ever watched or read a series and when finished immediately turned around and started from the beginning and re-read or re-watched it?

No but I do do that thing where as soon as I finish one book I want to immediately start a new one. Like it was so satisfying I want to immediately recapture that feeling, and the fastest way is to jump into the next possible ending. I'm trying to make myself wait one day between books to try and learn to savor, but idk if that's going to hold up.

Hmm. Is that unusual? I'm usually reading at least two books at a time, it's rare for me to only be reading one book, but if I am, I will start something new as soon as I finish it. I just don't feel right if I'm not reading something.

Definitely Code Geass. Re-watched it first, then re-re-watched it with my mother.

I did that with the video game Tales of Berseria. I absolutely LOVE that game to bits.

Not the entire thing, but definitely reread or rewatched a few of my favorite parts of it. I did already replay games immediately after finishing them.

there have been some movies I loved so much I immediately watched them a second time.

Yeah, I did that with the Skulduggery Pleasant books for about two years. The series is in two phases that are rather different from each other so when I finished phase two, which I don’t like as much, I immediately looped back to the beginning. I think I read the whole series four times without reading anything else. I only stopped because I did the book a month challenge and don’t have enough reading time to read schoolbooks, challenge books, and something just for personal enjoyment.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-05 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. I'm not big on re-reading/re-watching things in general, though. Personally, I feel like there are so many things out there that re-reading or re-watching something is just wasting time that I could be spending reading or watching something new. I know I'm in the minority on this, though.

Yes, mostly with mystery/espionage series where I want to see the whole thing again now that I know what’s really going on or how the schemes turn out.

Latest examples are all TV: Slow Horses, The Gold, and A Spy Among Friends

Re: have you ever

(Anonymous) 2023-07-05 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but I will definitely skip to the good parts on an immediate reread/rewatch.

My mom did this the first time she read Magister Ludi, and enjoyed it even more the second time around. With such a glowing recommendation, that's also what I did. Can confirm that it's fun. And also the ending took some getting reconciled to, so ... putting the entire book between me and it once, after I knew what was going to happen, kind of helped.

I have done this with many video games over the years.

Re: have you ever

(Anonymous) 2023-07-05 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes, yeah. Some of that's just wanting to keep rolling around in the happy feeling it gives me, and part of that's wanting to pick up the details I missed the first time around.

Back in 2000 (I think it was 2000?) I got obsessed with Harry Potter after TGOF came out, so I started rereading them as soon as I finished the four that were already out. That's the only instance I can think of.

I was also constantly rewatching episodes of Buffy throughout my teens, but I mostly didn't rewatch them in order; some eps got rewatched more than others.

any Gundam Wing fans here

(Anonymous) 2023-07-05 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
was Relena as awful as I remember or was that a bit of weird early fandom days misogyny?

Re: any Gundam Wing fans here

(Anonymous) 2023-07-05 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
I'm leaning toward situational misogyny -- her major sin was being a femme character who 'got in the way' of the brooding hero. This aired during peek 'not like other girls' toxicity and I remember vividly how most fandom spaces had shippers leaning toward m/m pairings.

Because I definitely remember finding her annoying when I was watching when it aired on Cartoon Network in the 90s but I've seen clips of it recently and I don't have that well of dislike pooling up anymore (and granted it could be with age comes wisdom but I think its not just that).

She could be a character archetype that you don’t like, which happens, but as someone who wasn’t anywhere near the fandom because I hand’t found them yet I liked her just fine. I found about the hate years later and was baffled, so while I do think an individual tastes thing could be part of it I also think 90’s fan of misogyny played a big part as well.

About 50/50? Now that I'm not a teenager, she's got a lot of interesting character points to her and I enjoy her a lot more but, when I was a teenager, I think I lot of it was that I just didn't have the life experience to really grasp her character. She does absolutely crazy things for peace and I was busy rooting for more robot fights piloted by cute boys who had tons of drama. She didn't gel with me then. I like her a lot more now that I look at her and better understand her and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people would find the same if they rewatched the series. It's a bit like Shinji from Eva. When I was a teen he was irritating af and I hated him. Grown up me sees all the ways the adults around him fail and get angry on his behalf, instead of being angry at him.

In Relena's case, though, a lot of it was very definitely her being the leading lady in a show where most fans were busy oogling and shipping all the dudes together in various equations. ( 1x2 and 3x4 shipper here lmao)

Honestly, if you were thinking of rewatching the series, I'd say go for it. I found she hits different these days.

I mean, to be fair, I haven't rewatched to whole show, but I've watched some clips and she's still pretty annoying. But everyone on the show's a complete psycho and the dub's awful, so it's a bit of a non starter.

I have been rewatching it lately and I think her main issue is that she starts off annoying and takes a long time to start maturing and becoming interesting. But by Endless Waltz she is great and I thought that even at the time when Toonami was airing GW.

What time to you go to bed and what time to you have to wake up?

(Anonymous) 2023-07-05 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
generally speaking.

I get up around 7am and try to have lights out by 10pm but usually lately it's more like midnight.

What is your job?

You can be as vague or specific as you like.

Did you go after this career or was it unplanned? Do you like it?
