Part of me thinks this is adorable and part of me really cringes at the whole thing. But you should totally write it OP! You don't have to post it, but I bet you'd have fun writing it.

No need to post if you don't want to OP*, but go for it! I write and draw my self-insert with canon characters a lot, but never posted anything, have tons of fun.

* Or post it! Life is too short, and there is always an audience for it if the character is popular.

I have a canon character/OC ship that I occasionally write little bits of fic for because it’s just fun to do, I don’t post them because it really is just for me and I’m good with that. I indulge in something purely self serving and have a good time, no harm done, so if you want to write stuff just for you OP go for it.

I understand what you mean about it seeming like violating the f/o's privacy or yours both as a "couple". Writing a fic like that can feel like a private exchange between you and them, and posting it in public on the lines of if you'd just randomly posted up sexts between you and a physical person, or something. So, I'd say write it, and you can just let it be drawer fic if you really feel uncomfortable about posting it.

I really believe that we should all have something, one thing at least, that's just for ourselves, where we don't have to worry about how it's going to be received.

Write it and keep it for yourself (for now*).

I have more than one fic where I write it solely for me. No intentions to ever post anywhere or share with anyone. There's one BIG fic where I have a self-insert who starts a blackmailed relationship with a MC in Fandom 1 that turns into mutual lust that transform into True Love. At first, it was mostly smut but somewhere along the way an actual story between the MCs and their families and friends began to build up. It's super messy now, like soap opera/365 Days level ridiculousness.
It's super self-indulgent and even though I feel like I've written some really good shit in these self-indulgent fics, I also feel like the fic in itself is such a stupid fic with silly typical fanfic tropes that I often don't like lol I don't hold myself up to any real standards outside of, "what self-indulgent thing do I want to happen so I can have time pass"
Also, I absolutely love that I can write it whenever I want to write but don't want the stress of writing a fic made for an audience to interfere with my day dreams/story ideas that just will not stop playing in my mind. I love that I can read it when I'm not feeling complimentary towards myself and just cringe at my writings while being grateful that I never posted this fic anywhere, only I have seen it.

Also, it makes me feel like the characters and the world I built can exist in my imaginations without any sort of pressure. I can mold to my liking whenever I want, or I can set it aside if I'm feeling unmotivated.

Not something that works for everyone, but for me, I highly recommend writing stories just because you want to. Nothing more and nothing less than you writing a story because you have an urge to write it/read it.

*"for now": I know that sometimes one's craft/confidence can grow to the point that they may one day actually publish something they never thought they'd share with anyone so don't put any pressure on yourself for changing your mind with fics you write (if you planned to post but you decided not to? Don't chide yourself so much for changing your mind; feeling like this "for me only" fic is actually something you want to share? Go for it!)
For example:
A couple weeks ago I got an urge to write a smutty "What if Character A and Character B from Fic 4 from Ancient Fandom 2 met up five years after the ending?"
I just wanted to write it and read it later. Wrote the thing in a few days, read it, felt like it was lacking, and set it away.
I re-read it a week later and considered tweaking names and details around, polish up the writing and post it for Fandom 3. The dynamic reminded me of a pair I write for.
But I've been distracted lately and I'm now not sure if I do want to work more on it.
I'm glad I wrote the thing and got rid of the itch. Also glad that I can read it when I want.

I loved that movie (which was a pretty darned good World War II adventure for a Star Wars movoe) and I am also bitter about the lack of Bodhi Rook merchandise. I looked for an action figure but could never find one.

I didn't enjoy Hawkeye as much as I think I could have if I hadn't ever read the comics. They toyed with the Fraction references but in the end I just didn't care for the Renner Hawkeye.

But I fucking adored Ms Marvel and don't know why people don't like that show. It as adorable and fun and I loved it.

I’m not a particular fan and haven’t seen a Pacino movie in ages, but well before learning about his private life, I think his acting kind of lost a lot of its appeal.

I feel like when he was young he was more composed and powerful and at some point he became IMHO over-expressive and a bit too much. It worked for Roy Cohn in Angels in America, but not for all his characters.

I want to say it depends on the platform, but I am no longer sure. I block nerdrage YouTube channels on principle (every time they use the word 'woke' or use caps locks), and you are better off not reading any discussion posts for videogames on Steam.

Unfortunately, this seems to be something spreading overall. It is why I do not engage in fandoms anymore. They rarely feel like places to gush about your canons or write theories and stories, and more as if to vent on how things changed from your childhood days. Worse if the reason for their complaints is because women or minorities take a central role.

I don't know if YouTube is to blame, but more and more I come to agree with the saying 'the internet was a mistake'.
