I don't think she's a good actor and tend to avoid any movies she's in. I saw Wonder Woman against my instincts because people said it was good. They should have said it was good for a DC movie, and they would have been more correct.

She's not a good actor at all imo, but she is absolutely gorgeous so I might put it on in the background while I'm doing something else and only pay attention when she's on-screen. I've done that before and had fun like that with bad movies.

Godawful actor and I have no idea why Hollywood decided to go all-in on her as a big female star. Never been good in anything and I am incredibly confident that there's other people who could have done better in any role she's done.

And yeah I looooove cheesy spy thrillers, *especially* cheesy spy thrillers starring asskicking women - I have watched some pretty crappy movies because of it! but Heart of Stone was just real bad.

I only know this fandom from osmosis, but I'm just shocked to hear it takes place on regular Earth (unless you're talking about obvious fictional counterparts to real countries).

And yeah, "Be glad you live in our awesome country instead of this other one because it's awful" stories exist everywhere. I'd still much rather live in the US than China, but maybe that's just because I do.

Vaguely recalling from TV Tropes: I thought this series used the line “Was bisexual. Now monogamous.” Was that referring to this same character who died and then was revealed as polyamorous?

I love most of the Vorkosigan Saga books and the Chalion books, but my big problem with Gentleman Joie and the Red Queen wasn't the romance, it was the emphasis on Bujold's "thing" about babies and how important they are, so all her fave characters want them.

I don't and won't have kids, but I think everyone who wants kids and can give them a good life should get to have them, and it still just ... creeped me out, ever since I noticed the thorough-line in so many of her books.

I always wanted to read more about Aral and have a story from his point of view because he was such an unusual character in that context, too. (Cordelia gets all the points for that in the series.) He was a really rare male character who was intelligent, unusually self-aware, not perfect but open to correction, politically powerful but not particularly ambitious, not at all concerned about showing "weakness" by publicly loving his family, especially his son, had the reputation of being a ruthless murderer but IRL possessed immense integrity, etc. I don't see enough male characters like this in fiction.

I feel a little ungrateful for this, but...

...there's someone going through my fic and commenting with a heart, and nothing else. They appear to be doing the same thing with other fics in the fandom.

Now, I appreciate receiving comments, of course. But lately there's been a new round of that old-time Commenting Discourse going around (I'm sure you've seen it at some point or another: there's a very strident school of thought holding that writers are, well, sort of owed comments. Any sort of comment will do, as it's the fact of receiving a comment that matters, rather than its content), and I can't help but feel like that's behind what this person is doing. It doesn't come across as if they're genuinely feeling moved to comment; they just feel as though it's what they're "supposed" to do.

My feelings about this are very odd. I would rather someone comment because they have something to say, not because they feel obligated to do so. A "kudos" serves perfectly well if you merely want to "heart" something I've written; that is, after all, what they're there for. At the same time, I'm flattered that someone has read multiple fics of mine in quick succession, and am grateful that they've liked them all.

What are your thoughts on this? What are your feelings on comments in general? What sort do you prefer to receive?
