In Star Trek, we know that some Federation ships are named after famous fictional vessel from Earth History. This raises the question, is there, out there in the Starfleet, a USS Millennium Falcon flying around? I mean, there are few more famous fictional ships... Over to you, fanficcers.

I always think it is odd that Red Dwarf had Lister as the lead, but all the best episodes were about Rimmer's twisted psyche. Good work for Chris Barrie in making him just so fascinating, not to mention oddly pitiable, in his neurosis.

I would have preferred Kirk and Co got command of the Excelsior at the end of Star Trek IV instead of a new Enterprise. That constantly new Enterprise trope introduced there kinda became an albatross around the franchise's neck.

I'm glad usenet died a death. Can you imagine the shitshow alt.fan.zacksnyder or alt.fan.rowling would be right now? (although I wouldn't mind URP making a comeback, I miss you guys)

I've been researching VW buses for a year now, and I'm still no closer to understanding how people manage to convert them to a reliable water cooled engine. I know it can be done, I've seen them at meet ups, even T1 splitties, but every instruction guide has left me so confused it might as well be voodoo.

I loved Top Gun back in the day, I was a major Tom Cruise fangirl, so why have I just no interest in seeing Top Gun: Maverick? I haven't seen it, am left cold by the marketing, and just really nothing it. By all accounts this movie is tailor made for people like me, so what is wrong with me that I just don't care?

I've been trying to read more books by authors who aren't white / male / both for the past decade and a half, and I'm really enjoying the trend of more translated novels arriving in bookstores. Most of my first year or two was spent reading books by non-white authors writing about the same stuff the white authors did, with similar takes and themes, presumably because that's what the publishing houses were willing to buy from them, and that was pretty disheartening.

well Rooster Teeth has privatised the full seasons of Red vs Blue on YouTube. On one hand, I’m glad the guys are ending the show on their terms and retconning a couple of seasons - I’ve been watching since season 3 and it should’ve ended a few seasons ago.

On the other hand, I’m going to pirate the shit out of it because of this.

Spoilers for Mortal 1 Kombat

The thing that annoyed me the most with the reimagining was Scorpion's ending. Because just what exactly did Hanzo do to Liu Kang that got his entire life handed over. Kuai Liang not only has his powers, but also gets his clan and his wife! The latter is especially off-putting since Hanzo apparenly still exists in this timeline (except he's a kid for some reason). Why couldn't the guy just live happily with his family, exempt from MK shenanigans. He deserved that much.
(But also, I've been shipping Kuai Liang with Smoke since the latter's introduction and I was hoping this game would at least be ambiguous enough that I could headcanon them smooching offscreen and I couldn't even have that)

I started watching and playing Pokemon in 2000, and I'm ashamed to admit that it took me three episodes to realize that James was a guy. In my defense, I was a sheltered 14-year-old who was new to anime in general at the time, but like, he didn't even cross-dress in those episodes, so I didn't even have that excuse!

Fandom these days is so depressing to me. I just want a place to share my excitement and love, but it seems like everything is complaints and hate. There seems to be no room for actually enjoying things.

I had very little interest in watching Ahsoka until they introduced Captain Enoch and the kintsugi troopers on screen.

If they make him and all the night troopers out to be zombies/incompetant though, my interest will fall back to negative numbers though.

I want battle hardened badasses dammit, not zombies who are only effective in the sense that they cannot die and are creepy. Hell, even competent zombies would disappoint me too.

Lit, would it kill the star wars fandom to have actually badass storm troopers who are normal and not augmented by weird force powers?

It seems a surprising amount of people online seem to want Ezra/Sabine together.

It's strange because while some are calling it refreshing not to have the male lead and female lead get together, other's say that they are annoyed at the shift away from romances in today's films/tv shows.

I really hope they have them stay platonic even despite there being some evidence supporting a romantic reading of the relationship.

Srsly, ppl saying that it's unrealistic for them to not get together, have never been in a wholly platonic relationship with the opposite gender and heterosexual at the same time and it realllyyyy shows.

Joke's on me. I've spent the last week collecting screenshots. I legitimately ship it.

Is the next step commissioning art? Fic? I've never been all alone before and I'm embarrassed.

There is no shame in Kids These Days knowing nothing about old pop culture.

I only know anything about the 80's because of VH1's I <3 The 80's series. And I don't think it's available anywhere now. So how is anyone supposed to know shit?

Tired of looking at my stories and having anxiety bc "Oh no someone will think I actually want to do this" I'm not even attracted to everyone i write in smut about sometimes i'm just expressing something I feel i missed out on in my youth or never experienced and am curious about . And I'm sick of feeling guilty about it.

I'm more appalled by what happened to Scuttle in The Little Mermaid more than anything. That poor bird deserved better.

Thanks to old TV reruns during my childhood, all of my early crushes were 30-40 years older than me.

Fandom: Law and Order SVU

I really love Carisi and Rollins' story and relationship. Also I never hated Rollins, which seems like a really big taboo for SVU fandom.

I would have jumped at seeing Taylor Swift Eras if I'd had someone to go with, but I have to suppose that the movie will be the next best thing. I just wish I could find a dedicated group of Swifties to see it with. No one I know is a fan (I think because of my age group) and I really want some of that devoted party atmosphere. I just don't know where to even start looking - and it doesn't help that I don't want to be the only 30+ person in a group of mainly teens.

TV shows are taking the safe upproach these days. That's why we have so many adaptations and reboots. Where's modern Lexx? A new franchise the likes of StarGate? Blakes 7? The Prisoner? There's no new ideas out there.
I stopped checking out new series as they all close after 1 season, parasitize on old franchises or are directed at kids. Doramas are starting to feel predictable as well.
