I'm losing interest in shows I'm trying to watch

(Anonymous) 2023-10-24 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate when that happens. I just gotta stick to completed limited series.

I feel this, but mostly this year. I haven't tried anything new, for the most part, and I also haven't watched new episodes of things I already love. Some rewatching of old favorites and a lot of youtube vid watching. Been a rough year.

What was your least favorite candy as a kid?

Mine where the Mary Jane Peanut Butter kisses. But my grandma loved them so it all worked out.

Anything sour. Still my least favorite. I hate sour things. Second would be licorice (except black licorice).

I'll take all your sour candies.

Anything with coconut in it. I hate coconut.

those orange marshmallow peanuts. A FOAF calls them clown poop. Does anybody like those?

Anything with almonds or coconut. I can tolerate almonds somewhat now but still despise coconut.

Butterfingers and anything with mint.

Salted Nut Rolls. I hated nuts when I was a kid, which was good because it turned out I AM allergic to some. Not peanuts, though, and now I enjoy them every once in a while.

On the flipside, I *adored* toffee bars as a kid, and now as an adult, they hurt my teeth too much to eat.

I didn't know that was the official name for those rock hard peanut candies in the orange and black wrappers, but yeah, I didn't like those at all.

Liquorice (any kind)
Candy corn (I can only eat like a handful per year) And I used to like those mellow creme pumpkins/bunnies but I think they'd be too sickeningly sweet for me now.
The one in the chocolate assortment that surprises you by being full of coconut
Anything sour
Grape Jolly Ranchers

And I don't really get into mint/peppermint unless I'm trying to soothe nausea (and then I love it). It's okay, but it's never going to be what I choose for myself.

Mary Janes for me too. Oddly, I didn't mind Bit-O-Honey. I also disliked chocolate covered raisins and anything that was labeled fruit flavored but was somehow a shittier version of the fruit.

I'd also add Peeps to the list but I didn't try those until I was an adult. They are pretty gross though.

Those orange marshmallow circus peanuts.

Re: What was your least favorite candy as a kid?

(Anonymous) 2023-10-25 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Circus peanuts are gross, but I rarely encountered them. When it came to Halloween candy, I didn't much care for Sweet Tarts, or anything similar where the candy is a really hard compacted sugary powder glazed in sugar. I also disliked Laffy Taffy or similar hard, chewy candies, especially the banana flavored ones. Starburst are okay.

And licorice, ugh!

Should I get the free standing hammock I've had my eyeball on for like two years now that it is 30% off? Even though I won't be able to use it until next year.

Has anyone used them and can you recommend a brand? Wanting to buy some for my sister.

I had a fandom friend ghost me awhile back, and it was during a time I was writing fic that I was posting. NGL, the fact that they did that during that time, made me really uninspired to write. Lately I've picked it back up and it's been going decently. People seem to appreciate it, but I can't help but think that maybe my writing is just utter trash.

That friend was the whole reason I got to publishing fic, and they told me one time, that it was okay to not read new works/comment on fic despite engaging with the fic writers on a more personal level. I can't help but think they ghosted me because they just weren't interested in what I was writing.

I know that prob wasn't the thing, and hopefully it wasn't anything related to me; life happens and all. But still.

Any advice on how to get over is appreciated, because I can't help but think it whenever I write. The association is too great.

I might move cities. My spouse might get a job in the career they've been training for for years. I'll have to give up my job where I've dug in like a tic. I'm not actually happy at my current job, but I'm used to it. There are jobs available in this new city that could work for me, I'd just have to grow and work hard and I'm spooked. Interviews and applying was awful and I'm not looking forward to it.

There are cute houses and interesting things to do in this city.

But the weather seems *rough*

But I'm a homebody anyway. And I'd be an hour closer to my in-laws. And not that much further away from many friends. And only two hours further away from my own family.

I just... hmm. I'm very scared of giving up the security even though we'd be better off in the long term in a new situation.

So my ask: how do you move cities as an adult? It's easy to do when you're a kid and your world revolves around school, but I don't know how to do that as an adult.

Funniest thing I read today

(Anonymous) 2023-10-25 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
A tongue-in-cheek post talking about the care and feeding of fanfic writers. The word "breeding" was used.

In the comments, someone taking issue with the word "breeding" and explaining to OP what eugenics is, in case they'd never heard the word before. They deftly managed to link the post to white supremacy, cultural genocide, and, later on, fascism. It was a real "hope this helps" moment.

People are sooooooooo keen to publicly correct wrongdoing and thereby showcase their own superiority that they're grasping at straws. Social media... bah.

Do you think they go to, say, dog breeder forums and bitch at them as well?
