YES! I would like to see them create the example.

Ooh I was gonna say "no that sounds dumb and really shallow" to the original question but actually yeah I think someone having the same name as any of my close family members would definitely be a turn-off.

Raggety Ann?

I think it's fine to not like current things, no need to give excuses as to why. I mean, I did try "the untamed" and just couldn't get into it, the books on the other hand, I read them no problem. But yeah, some other trendy stuff like pop music or the like, I simply won't listen to and some people in my circle find it annoying. Sorry not sorry, I just don't vibe with it.

What sort of titles are you looking for, OP? SuBLime has published a couple of not-so-fluffy titles. And some that are still ongoing ended up going in a direction that I wasn’t expecting.

I kinda like that we’re getting more variety in published BL because back in the 2000s, it was a lot of “no means yes” and unhealthy dynamics, which is fine and all, but it got really boring because it was all so same-y.

Re: Infected toe

It's likely from the injury. I think you might be describing the same thing I have on my big toe right now, it's like a 'ridge' on the top half of the nail that's whiter and thicker. I broke my ankle a year ago and noticed it at one point while the ankle was healing, I assumed it was a hangnail and would fall off but it didn't. I asked my orthopedist about it and she said I probably caused trauma to the toe when I fell and that the newly grown nail should eventually move the white ridge part to where I can just cut it as part of normal nail trimming.

That said, I still haven't removed it because it's not quite ready yet so yeah, it sounds like clipping it when you did was a bad idea. Go to your doctor.

The really generic doe-eyed girls with big boobs AI art style. You know the one.

That weird, over-emphasized blush. You know, the dark red cheeks/nose/forehead thing that makes everyone look drunk or like they did the fusion dance with Lady Elaine Fairchilde?

An average runner ain't entering the Boston Marathon.

And average bakers aren't on this show. If it were just "average people baking things averagely," there'd be no point to it.

I don't mind it exactly, but I really don't care for it when it's obvious the artist is trying to copy the style before they even have a grasp on art/drawing/shading/depth perception/proportions/etc.

(I'll also add I don't go around telling people I don't like their stuff. I just keep it to myself, because I also realize we all have to start somewhere.)

Yeah, see a doctor. I've watched enough Toe Bro to know you should take care of it sooner than later.

DA I actually got the depression vibe, too. I may be projecting, because I’ve felt exactly as this secret describes and it was depression in my case. There wasn’t much in my life outside of fandom at the time so it seemed at first that changes in trends in media was the reason.

(Anonymous) 2023-11-17 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Is there a current trend towards hyperrealism? I don't feel like I've seen more of that recently, not doubting it's happening somewhere, but I am curious where you're seeing that.

They're still not professional bakers, they're amateur bakers.
But I can see you're just being pedantic so whatever, do what you want.

I was constantly having to me like "[name] from website" and "[name], my brother" with people lol.

Funny thing is it was after we broke it off that me and my brother had an awkward encounter with someone who thought we were dating.... and THEN said "oh yeah you look like twins" and UGHH it was so uncomfortable . Never met someone who just kept chewing that foot so hard. We never did go to that Cici's again. XD Eughhhh

(Anonymous) 2023-11-17 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, so much! Tight timing is one thing, but a lot of these challenges became just not fun to watch anymore.

Re: Dating and names?

(Anonymous) 2023-11-17 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
My wife and I both have the same fairly common first name (e.g. Jessica), but we both grew up having four Jessicas in every class so it wasn't really a shock. We kept our own last names though! We also know two straight couples named Kelly/Kelley and Peter/Peta.

not me with multiple exes with the name jordan and my current dude being a justin

I have to admit I miss the slightly weirder ones that were on the scifi/fantasy side or just silly elements to it (or anything with vampires or a gothic vibe to it). Equally I do love some angst and/or hurt/comfort ones too.

I'll have to look more into SuBLime. I use to pick random June titles off the shelf back in the day and admittedly, that wasn't always the best idea since like you mentioned there were noncon stuff that was not at all fun.
I could go either way with unhealthy relationship dynamics entirely depending on the individual stories - not the stuff where a bad relationship is painted as 'good', but idk darker stuff or the drama of 'I know this person isn't good for me, but-'. Its hard to say because sometimes it can be handle well and other times it gives me the ick.
I don't even mind fluff sometimes, but a lot seems so bland these days - like Old Fashioned Cupcake which had a pretty good start to the story but kind of fell flat near the end (I did laugh at the fact there's a warning for explicit content and what's actually in it is about two pages of the very bare minimum).
