I'm blocking anyone on tumblr that posts about it atm, it's either complete misinformation on both sides or people trying to guilt you into staying UP TO DATE on a horrible situation to out-progressive one another. I go to tumblr for gifsets and art of the fandoms I'm in, I'll read the news to find out more about the actual situation thanks.

Depends what he meant by "deserved it." There are women who will be absolutely awful to men, including hitting them, because they know it's not socially acceptable for the men to defend themselves.

I'm sick of both sides of that debate. On the one side, Israel can do no wrong and the massacre they suffered means anything they do is justified. On the other side, anything done to Israel is justified due to how they treat Palestinians. How about some nuance? How about this is an issue where there is genuine disagreement and that is okay? How about both sides have done terrible things?

About, oh, a week or so ago, someone I follow reblogged a screenshot of a retweet. The original tweet was someone saying something like, "you're all useless" and "I guess I'll just wait for me and my family to die." The gist of the retweet was, "if this makes you mad, then you're not a true pro-Palestinian ally. This should make you want to do MORE."

All I could think was: what does "MORE" mean to you, or to anyone passing this around? What are you actually giving to this cause you care so much about? Because I suspect the reason the original party was so upset; the reason he was saying that everyone is "useless;" is because everyone's idea of "activism" is "raising awareness" while sitting comfortably on their asses and clutching their purse strings. Or, only slightly more charitably, it's staging protests outside of cancer centers.

I remember when the war in Ukraine started. People actually packed up and went to the Ukraine and surrounding countries. These people on Tumblr and Twitter who claim to care SO FUCKING MUCH about Palestine? They aren't doing that. They aren't putting their money where their mouth is. They're engaging in a giant circle jerk, using the bloodshed as yet another excuse to shame and self-aggrandize.

And, to be clear, I'm not saying that anyone is obligated to do that. But I am saying that if you're showcasing your "allyship" and using it to lambast other people, then you should walk the goddamn walk instead of just flapping your electronic lips.

This is one of those debates that reveals how little thought people give to their moral positions. On both sides, the reasoning comes from a place of, "whether something is right or wrong depends on who is doing it," with neither side considering where that kind of thinking can ultimately lead.

I really like JJK, but as it continues further on and more and more characters with cool designs and potential are killed off unceremoniously (oh, those hanging plot threads), I'm starting to agree. I LOVE character death, but there's a point where it's just...pointless. Like the secret says, there isn't really much change in character behavior. A lot of characters stagnate, die before they can grow, or grow and then immediately die. Is it realistic that so many characters would get killed off? Yeah. But this is also a work of fiction; also a fantasy focusing on ludicrous powers, come on. Honestly at this point, they could kill off all of humanity and I'd just shrug. I kind of expect Gege to do it because it seems no one hates JJK more than them.

The Last Unicorn is still an amazing movie and deserves its accolades(the book is also excellent, but I read that as an adult).

Gargoyles is actually even a little better for me now than when I was a kid, the World Tour episodes are much less of a slog when you just watch them in a chunk rather than being rerun for months on end.

Honestly I find the whole thing terribly performative. People are yelling about 'general strike for Gaza!' but then adding 'unless you can't skip work or school of course.' Like... it's not really a strike then. It's the people who can take a sick day took a sick day. I saw someone posting that strikes work because what about the Montgomery bus boycotts and such, and those worked because people put their lives and livelihoods on the line (and because it was localized and they were actively impeding the thing they wanted to protest). Sorry, you didn't stand up bravely for Palestine by taking a sick day that your boss agreed to and calling it a strike. And I'm not saying that people should give up their livelihood for Palestine, just that lets not act as if this is a big huge movement of standing up against The Man.

I mean I clearly use a wheelchair. So like... I think I should get to say what I call myself?

Some people don't like it. Just like some people prefer differently abled or disabled. My wheelchair isn't a punishment, but it's also a big part of my life and I feel like saying that I just use it and am not bound to it to live my life is, frankly, insulting. I cannot go anywhere without it. I will NEVER be able to go anywhere without it. And sorry, but a big part of me is always going to be the wheelchair. People won't magically not notice it.

The part about only learning about characters' backgrounds in flashbacks right before they die is simply untrue to me. Just one counter-example (but it's not the only one): Maki and Mai during the Kyoto exchange tournament (don't remember if it's the correct name for the event). We learn a lot about both of them without any of them dying.

I also disagree with you about the way the female characters are handled. So far, I've been pleasantly surprised by how much agency, personality, and competency they have. They don't feel like second fiddles to me. However, I'm not up to date with the anime/manga (as in I haven't watched the full second season and haven't read the manga yet, outside of some scans), outside of what I've learned second-hand for the last two arcs (which is quite a lot. I'm completely spoiled), so the treatment of the female characters might have gone to hell since then (I know which female character(s) died, just not how).

Lastly, in the first season, at least, I saw some character development for Megumi, Nobara, and Yuji. I might have seen it for others too, but I haven't watched the show in a few months, so I can't quite remember all of the characters' psychological/emotional arcs.

All in all, I respect your opinion, and if I keep on watching/reading the manga, I may agree with you, in part. As of right now, I can't say I agree with some of your remarks. The argument about the backgrounds is, once again, to me simply not true.
