Steam Deck game recs?

(Anonymous) 2024-04-11 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I just inhereted a steam deck and am super excited. Its been years since I had some form of handheld. So. Anyone have any game recommendations that are great on the deck? I have Stardew Valley and Vampire Survivors so far.

(I know they have a whole category of reccomended games in the store, I was just wondering about personal opinions.)

I love the steam deck and wish I had more time to play with it, because I've BARELY tried anything out on it.

What I have queued up to play on it when I have some gaming time:
-Dear Esther
-Gone Home
-The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog
-Kentucky Route Zero
-Gone Home
-Torchlight

What I have played on it:
-Bastion-- much preferred this one on the steam deck! Found it frustrating/a non-starter on my laptop.
-Coral Island-- fine on deck but for me this one plays great on my laptop so I'll probably stick to playing it there. But it's an option for the rare times when I travel.
-Sega Mega Drive & Genesis Classics- Worked for me, so if you enjoy the old school.

Ohhh I actually have Bastion on Steam but yeah, found it shoer fristrating in my computer so never played it. I will definitely have to guve it a try on the deck. I also enjoy old school so will check out the classics. Ty!

Was the United States involved in active military conflicts between the end of Vietnam and the election of Ronnie Reagan?

The Lion King - how do people think about the different animals?

(Anonymous) 2024-04-12 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I’m curious, What was your understanding of the hyenas and lions in The Lion King?

What makes the hyenas “the bad guys”? Do you think of them as hunters or as scavengers?

What makes the lions (besides Scar) “the good guys”? What does it mean for Mufasa to rule over the Pride Lands?

[all of this brought to you by an interaction with someone who had clearly thought about the movie a lot more than I ever have before]

Has anyone actually found something that ACTUALLY keeps stray cats out of your yard? They are destroying my raised garden bed. And the males are spraying everywhere. They even got under the netting I put down to protect my beans. I don't want to have animal control pick them up but I am at the end of my rope.

Vaguely based on the DNA conversations yesterday

Do you have any criminals in your family? How close were you to them?

So far as I know, no one I'm related to has gone to prison.

One of my cousins is in prison for murdering someone. He was always an aggressive asshole so it wasn't a huge shock to me.

I’m the only one and I never got caught for anything. I was a drug addict and involved in a lot of shady shit aged 12-23 when I got clean. I also never did anything extreme like murder someone, but I did do things that would have caught a felony charge.

No one convicted. But my uncle should have been. He raped both his sisters when they were all kids. But everyone brushed it under the rug.

There's at least one murderer, child abusers, those who have committed SA (including against children), and animal abusers. Though only the murderer was charged with anything and convicted. And given I knew all of this before DNA tests, I'm on the fence when it comes to taking one of those things.

I tend to only speak to one family member now.

I'm the only member of my family who did anything illegal and that was only smoking weed which isn't even illegal here in Calif anymore anyway.

Depends on what you mean by criminals. I had a great uncle who, during prohibition, was a bootlegger and rumrunner. The local sheriff knew and never arrested him, but he did tell him that they had put a lien on his house, so he never moved even though he wanted to. When he was in his 60s he finally decided to just pay the lien so he could move to the city and found out there never was a lien. The entire family teased him about it until the day he died. And again at the funeral. XD

Almost half the people who came to Australia in my family were convicts so

I have an ancestor from Ireland who stole a cow with her sister and mother to escape the famine and I adore that for her. What an Irish way to come out.

My dad was a schizophrenic drug addict and was arrested wearing body armor and carrying guns loaded with armor-piercing rounds. At least one of the guns was illegally modified to be fully automatic.

My parents farmed and sold weed in the 80s and apparently supplied some rock bands in LA for awhile.

My mom smuggled cocaine once.

My mom's dad raped all three of his children and went to jail in his 70s for trying to kidnap and rape his paper delivery boy.

My parents were the last known people to see a missing person alive. After my dad died I asked my mom if they'd killed him (because it was when they were weed farmers) and she said no, she thought one of the boyfriends/lovers of missing dude's wife (who'd been found dead years before with missing dude the prime suspect) had finally caught up with him. Still not sure she wasn't covering up for my dad, but they're both dead now so idk.

... I jaywalk sometimes, and I've made audio bootlegs of a couple musicals.

My cousin probably is. She is addict in some abusive relationships who is lying like breathing. I am not close to her. Her father (my uncle) also has addiction history and he had stolen things from our family. His father (my grandfather) was the worst - a cop.

TBH for me, it's more who in my family isn't somehow doing criminal things?

On advice from my lawyer, I am going to not answer that question.

We have someone that had to flee a country because they were wanted. They came to America and started over. Which is hilarious to me because the family is very proud of him (go rebels against tyranny!) but they are also extreme Republicans against immigration and anti-protest etc.
