Not into this fandom, but I understand the appeal of something that's not great but has a lot of potential. The gaps are where your imagination kicks in! There's high-quality books/movies/TV shows that I enjoy very much but am not fannish about, and there's trashy stuff I don't enjoy, but there's definitely a sweet spot in the middle for "not great but catches my attention".

OP - This is extremely true! Most of the fandoms I've spent significant time in have been for things that were honestly mid (and often got pretty bad as they went on, lol). I'm not sure why HH feels like more of a "guilty pleasure" to me than my other fandoms. I think it's just messier? I wouldn't ask my friends to watch it with me because I feel like there's strong odds they would be like, "What the hell did I just watch? o_O"

Seconded! Stuff I think is genuinely great tends to make me wanna write meta but the fic and look-at-all-the-art urges come from good-but-had-so-much-potential.
