I feel like the Dewey decimal system actually works against me. When I look for sci-fi books at the library, I can be surprised by whatever subgenre I happen to stumble across. Nonfiction categories are so fine-grained that I’m not sure where to start.

Considering how vast and varied non-fiction books are by comparison to the genres of fantasy & sci-fi - I would argue that it already does with books like biographies of celebrities and politicians.

I just finished a 20min run!

It was a "beginner run" on the Peleton and it was more like a 16min run after the warm up and cool down, but I did it! And I only had to reduce my speed for 30seconds once!

This is HUGE for me. But I've been trying to make a real commitment to fitness and I've been consistently working out 3x a week (and taking walks the other days) and it is so exciting to see actual progress because I sure as heck could not have done this 4 weeks ago when I started.

I have no friends and my family doesn't care about stuff like this so yeah, I might have made this thread just to share my excitement somewhere.

Aw that sounds so sweet anon, I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying in the fandom participation.
I miss doing things like that with art trades back in my LJ and Deviantart days in fandom. Most of my fandoms are active on Tumblr and I've seen too much drama in those spaces to want to take part in.

I miss it too but yeah I'm too burned by past drama to chance tumblr or Twitter. Plus it is all just so open. I miss my private little community exchanges. But I'm thrilled for OP!

I mean, I feel like that's kinda what it's for. It is designed to be trashy fandombait. I don't think it's bad in a not-fun way, it's more bad in an insubstantial way. More like twinkies than fruitcake. Anyway I'd say, who gives a shit if it's bad, just have fun.
