Yeah, I'm also not a fan and just about everyone I know is obsessed with her to some degree. It's just not music I enjoy. I'm glad for her, and love to see openly queer artists get so much love, but I just wish people in fandom especially lately be more... uh, understanding, I guess.

ess common and that made our expectations much, much lower. People take it more seriously now that the real likelihood of canon m/m exists. And that's a good thing, so I can take the sometimes-annoying increase in slash goggles-wearing fans thinking it could be canon that it's caused.

I was in the Harry Potter fandom. I don't think most people expected Harry/Draco to be canon, though a sizable number of people thought Wolfstar could be. Even then, most believed it probably wouldn't happen. Now ships like those are far more likely. If JKR wasn't a dumpster fire of a person, anyway.

Popcorn is my favorite salty thing. And fruit and yoghurt are my compromise with my need for sweet but trying to eat more healthy these days.

I really like her music, but I understand how dumb it is where people do the whole 'if you were REALLY a good person, you'd read/watch/listen to THIS' nonsense.

It's definitely one way to put people off of getting into any kind of media when its being made into something mandatory. Reminds me of a post on Tumblr several years ago where people would demand people to read/watch queer titles without any explanation other than 'it's got *insert alphabet soup acronym here*, the plot doesn't matter' and not doing so made you evil and a bad queer -_-

I get annoyed when a particular faction starts to act as though they are somehow uniquely entitled to have their ship made canon, especially when they insist that it's the best because it's the Most Progressive or some such shit.

Honestly I think HP fandom needs to put their goggles back on and realize they are just goggles, because I've seen multiple people add 'queerbaiting' to JKR's list of sins and just...no? Fandom's tendency to decide if you're a terrible person in one way you must be awful in all ways is annoying as is (like it can't just be that JKR is transphobic, she must also be racist, sexist, etc., as if the transphobia alone isn't bad enough) and there are plenty of criticisms to lob at HP's writing, but queerbaiting was never one of them. Remus and Sirius were never going to be a thing and she didn't write the books with the intention of convincing anyone that they would be a thing. Fandom did that all on its own. JKR was not obligated to keep the possibility of canon ship alive just because the fangirls latched onto it hardest.

I find that always gets lobbed at any queer media that actually gets popular outside of queer spaces, apparently having our stuff be successful in a mainstream context is bad and makes it less queer or something.
