Insane fragrance review just reminded me viscerally of Tar Season Anon, thought I'd share.

Someone just screenshotted this insane fragrance review on reddit, and my immediate thought was, "Wait, Tar Season Anon!?"

Obviously the odds of it actually being them are nil. Also, it's 2025, so this may well be the work of an AI. But the vibes are strong. And who doesn't love an excuse to reminisce about Tar Season Anon?

Remind ne who tar season anon was again?

I might not have been here for them. I remember soap dish anon, but not tar season.

I think secrets #10 and #11 here are where it started:

Then there were a few scattered secrets that seemed to have a similar oddness, though not necessarily actually the same person, like #2 here: https://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/1019467.html?thread=752367179#cmt752367179

Thread OP - You're the best for having these bookmarked! <3

Tar Season Anon truly is my favorite internet cryptid.

OMG. I returned to F!S last year after many years away, and when I saw references to "Tar Season Anon", I assumed it was somebody who made weird/wanky secrets about the Cate Blanchett movie, "Tar." But it was someone talking about actual road coverings?

That is weirder than I could have ever imagined. My mind is blown.

That’s just fantastic, thank you for sharing!

I get the tar season anon vibes.

And there’s a whole set of their reviews on the site, all in the same vein…

lol I was thinking about Tar Season Anon just yesterday! I drove past a Tire Discounters* and the sign said "I long for the tires of my youth" and I can't think of exactly what it was that Tar Season Anon said, but I think it was "I long for the field fires of my youth" or something like that. IDK, but it reminded me of them.

*Apparently it only exists in a handful of US states, so for anyone not familiar with it, it's a place that sells tires for cars, and they have a sign that they always change to weird/goofy/sometimes funny comments/sayings/jokes.

OP - Yes! I knew immediately what part you were talking about. XD

Also, "Field Fires Of My Youth" gives such strong early-2010's-indie-alternative-band's-sophmore-album energy, and I'm lowkey obsessed with the vibe of it?

Tar season anon was great, the way they worded things gave me such vivid and weird mental images.
