Just out of curiosity, is English your second language? Crab falling on head sounds kind of like an idiom that was translated literally but doesn't share the same meaning in English.

The point being that fantasy is a genre where things happen that make no sense, and in life, things happen that make no sense, so fantasy is more sensible than fiction that tries to make sense?

I dunno. This secret reads like a translated excerpt from an interview with a Japanese surrealist.

My hypothesis is that "a crab fell on his head" is slang for a sudden epiphany in the author's native language, though a fast Google did not give me any clues to back that up. It's just my assumption from how the secret reads.

Not sure I get the other half, though.

Sounds like you should be reading surreal magic realist stuff like Murukami rather than straight fantasy, OP.

Fantasy as a genre makes sense because you find life full of tiny absurd events that our brains slot into larger patterns in sometimes nonsensical ways?

In that case, I also recommend absurdist comedy, certain types of allegory, and I thoroughly recommend an old radio show called The Goon Show. You will enjoy it. It has people driving walls, letting trains through the house, paying with photographs of money, smoking baboons, climbing to the upper floors of mirage houses before realising what they are, unfolding 1:1 scale maps, and catching the dreaded lurgy. Absurdity ascendant, with snatches of an alarming sort of sense ;)
