I disagree. The bad shows were really bad, that's true, but the good shows all had really distinct styles. I saw a tweet the other day pointing out how so many angular styles from the 90s-2000s have now become softer and rounded, like being wrapped in a baby blanket, and I don't care for it. I miss when shows could be distinct looking over the same soft-focus baby look (and in fairness, we do still get some fun looking shows! Hanako-kun is airing right now and it had such a unique style. But we also get like 10+ boring blah power fantasy slop shows that all look photocopied from each other).

Also I find something charming about older series. I've been going through some classics for the first time lately, stuff from the 70s like the OG Gundam, and every time I see a shadow that's clearly just a streak of charcoal it makes me smile. Someone carefully hand colored that cell, and I miss that kind of personal touch.

LOL!! That is a perfect description.

What's interesting to me, being on the sidelines, is the emphasis on male objectification rooted in a sort of androgyny. Because usually we see either females being objectified like this ("Aren't I so sexy?") or males being objectified for being big manly men with workout body etc.

I feel like a lot of the fanbase is attracted to that kind of feminized male objectification, if that makes sense.

The dog's name is Krypto? Omh that's adorable.

I was a sweat machine through periomenopause. Seems to have leveled off a bit now. The night sweats were the worst, waking up literally soaked.

Same. I LIKED the wider diversity of art styles from those days. These days a lot of stuff is just really samey, and I find that boring.

75F?? Oh no, if it hits 65F, I'm uncomfortable. I would thrive in year-round 55F temps.

Awww! Nice base form. You'll have to show us more details as you continue.

I'm almost done with one side of my doll house staircase/partition wall (minus finishing): https://i.imgur.com/vxAb2kD.jpeg
Cardboard, paper, and Qtips.

No casualties to report here yet lol *knock on cardboard*

I used to sweat a ton when weight lifting. Then I started a med, and now I sweat a ton when weight lifting and when getting hot flashes during sleep. Ugh.

Wow! When you said cardboard, I didn't expect it to look so realistic! That is fantastic.

Oh, no, I agree a lot of them have badly aged in terms of quality. I guess I mean more like, I like the general vibe of 90s anime character designs and aesthetic, is what I'm getting at.

Booooo :( I'm sorry, hopefully next weekend is better!

this feels like a disingenuous/bad faith reading-- certainly it's counter to my reading, which is that OP is living in a country with a dictator in charge and wants to have hope for getting past this period intact. Hell, odds are good OP is living in the same country I am, and yeah, it is important to hope that no matter how many people do go along with their worst impulses in the face of a dictatorship, it's a thing that a country can heal from.

As much as I knew it was coming, the man was 97, I was still really hoping he'd last just a little longer...

I also learned a lot from those songs. Like what base eight is, and the MDF. And a whole lot of elements.

(Anonymous) 2025-07-28 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
There's a couple of songs I like but generally it's like every song is turned up to 11 emotionally on every line. There's little variation in emotion, no buildup, no resolution, it's just A SONG SUNG FULL BLAST all the way through.

I'm fat and I don't sweat much. I'm also very bad at dealing with heat, so maybe that's related.

I sweat an absurd amount, even in cold weather. It's actually ridiculous. I absolutely dread the summer because I'm too scared to wear light colours for fear of visible stains and have to shower twice a day to feel anywhere near comfortable being around people.
